Doin' Donnie T's dirty work for him, that's AG Barr. What a disgrace to the legal profession.

AG Coverup doing what he was hired to do. Republicans cheer for the end of the rule of law. The consequences are on y'all. We, on the other side, will not forget your willingness to embrace Fascism. This will come back to bite y'all in the ass.

Anyone wonder why he submitted his report with investigations still open?

#3 | Posted by MUSTANG at 2019-06-25 09:13 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

#3 My guess is Barr said "you're done now" and Mueller, being a Republican, wasn't inclined to fight about it.

"Anyone wonder why he submitted his report with investigations still open?"

Probably because his boss, AG Coverup, ordered him to. That is also probably why he does not want to testify, under oath, before Congress. It would require him to be disloyal to AG Coverup, I hope they subpoena him and force him to spill the beans about Trump and AG Coverup. I honestly do not believe he would commit perjurty for those piece of filth.

Mueller wasn't given a limitless scope.

The Special Counsel reports to the AG. It's the folly of the whole notion of setting up a Special Counsel, as an arm of the Executive branch to investigate....the Executive branch.

There is nothing preventing congress from picking up where Mueller left off. In fact, that's the way it should work.

Mueller effectively gave the nascent Trump administration a colonoscopy, yet for some reason that wasn't good enough.

Barr is likely right to shut this down. Want more investigations? Call Nancy Pelosi.

"AG Coverup doing what he was hired to do. Republicans cheer for the end of the rule of law."

I'll say it again: as Republicans continue to lose their electoral grip on power, and their ideas get repudiated again and again in the sphere of public opinion, don't look for Republicans to turn against their failed ideas; look for them to turn against Democracy.

"don't look for Republicans to turn against their failed ideas; look for them to turn against Democracy."

I'd say they did that officially in 2000, unofficially in 1980.

Why were there investigations going on after the report? When you issue a final report, you are finished.

In the course of his investigation, Mueller uncovered evidence of other potential crimes that may have fallen outside the scope of his appointment, so he referred them to other US Attorneys' offices for investigation and possible prosecution.

I see the DRama Club is out in full force.

From what I can tell from the attachment to the Raw Story (ahem) article, these are 2703 (d) subpoenas for electronic commincations/consumer records from Twitter, cell phone accounts and Facebook posts, they have to be given different case numbers for administrative tracking purposes since under the Stored Communications Act each subpoena is addressed separately on its merits. When a criminal investigation is over each of those case numbers is separately closed:

(d) Requirements for court order. --A court order for disclosure under subsection (b) or (c) may be issued by any court that is a court of competent jurisdiction and shall issue only if the governmental entity offers specific and articulable facts showing that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the contents of a wire or electronic communication, or the records or other information sought, are relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation.  In the case of a State governmental authority, such a court order shall not issue if prohibited by the law of such State.  A court issuing an order pursuant to this section, on a motion made promptly by the service provider, may quash or modify such order, if the information or records requested are unusually voluminous in nature or compliance with such order otherwise would cause an undue burden on such provider.
This is pretty typical at the end of any investigation, but have fun circle flapping over this.

Carry on.

You're right. He wasn't given limitless scope.

But those investigations are no longer part of his investigation. They are over with the DOJ. The scope of Mueller's investigation doesn't limit the DOJ to investigating. So these investigations were killed for other reasons?

Care to play again?

Because the report was limited in what it was allowed to pursue.

I love watching morons try and declare how criminal justice should work.

Full-Bengazi is when you investigate for purely political purposes no matter how small the offense and never let it go.

Full russiagate is when you investigate to try and save the country from a russian attack while the opposition tries to prevent the truth from coming out.

To the best of my knowledge the DOJ under Holder didn't conduct any investigations into the Obama administration. It's difficult for an arm of the Executive branch to objectively carry out an investigation into the Executive branch. See: Hillary email investigation.
