Yutaka Katada, the owner of one of the stricken fuel tankers crippled in explosions in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, says the U.S. is wrong about the way the attack was carried out.

Is Pres Trump's administration proffering a story to suit their agenda?

Too soon to tell. More evidence is needed.

Was that definitely an Irani ship aside the tanker? Identification has not yet been confirmed.

Are these tactics similar to what Iran has done previously? Yes.

Has someone else imitated those tactics?

Too soon to tell.

Of course there is classified info that may shed a lot of light on this. Why hasn't it been declassified? Because it may reveal sources and processes.

It just gets curiouser and curiouser.

It's highly doubtful Iran did this, especially with the Japanese prime minister visiting there when the attacks took place.

It's Israel (for war with Iran), or the U.S. and/or Saudi Arabia (for higher oil prices and war with Iran).

The Japanese owner of the Kokuka Courageous, one of two oil tankers targeted near the Strait of Hormuz, said Friday that sailors on board saw "flying objects" just before it was hit, suggesting the vessel wasn't damaged by mines. That account contradicts what the U.S. military said as it released a video Friday it said shows Iranian forces removing an unexploded limpet mine from one of the two ships that were hit.

So you're telling me the criminal Trump admin is lying their asses off?
They are willing to bomb innocent (brown) civilians to get the heat off their fat a$$e$, and distract from their own criminal behavior?

Color me NOT surprised as I predicted this.

Expect these criminal idiots (Bolton, Trump, SS Miller) to keep trying this ----!

When in doubt bomb brown people, it's the GOnP way.

Its the NeoCon way, which includes most Republicans and many Democrats.

Pretty easy to guess this is a 'wag the dog' scenario to draw attention away from all of Trump's bad news.

Mike Pompeo said "all evidence points to Iran."

Pompeo was too quick (within hours) to hit the airwaves with his 'definitive evidence' which tells me that the so-called 'evidence' was already prepared long before the incident happened.

To answer the who, what and why question, I think we have to look at who stands to profit the most from ginning up a confrontation with Iran. There are several candidates who come to mind and I agree, none of them is Iran.

We all know that Pompeo is just another monkey wrench in Trump's tool box. We can never take his word as the gospel for anything. It also comes to mind that Trump is now supporting his own little group of terrorists ~ in collusion with Israel for one.

This "incident" with the tankers may not be as simple as a mere distraction.

Israel has been trying for years to get the United States to start a proxy war with Iran. Obama refused and even George W. didn't want to dip his toe into that mess.

This sounds more like an opportunistic Donald Trump trying to 1) get his own war with Iran; and 2) help Netanyahu consolidate a coalition to hold power in Israel (and stay out of prison)

I think Mr. Netanyahu has finally found his mark in Donald Trump-the-Dupe.

These type of events are likely labeled CRITICAL, so the president and certain members of the national security administration are woken up and briefed within the hour of the event. It's not unusual for certain people to know what the early attribution reports say within minutes or hours of the act.

I... I wouldn't go that far in calling Iran "innocent." Iran has been waging war with us since the days of the Shah of Iran (1979 Iran hostage crisis).

The Shah of Iran was pro-American (since he was installed by the CIA) but he was a brutal dicktater (dictator). Muslims were/are anti American and took advantage of the student rebellion to install a Muslim government to the chagrin of many students. When Ayatollah Khomeini ordered the mass conversion to Islam.

I agree with the initial briefing part.

But "most people" would say, "An immediate investigation is underway to determine the perpetrator's of this terrible act of violence against our allies."

The grainy black and white photo looked old and wasn't proof of anything ~ except Pompeo trying to gin up case against Iran.

You know, satellite photos can read the date on a dime. Please don' try to tell me there isn't 24/7 satellite surveillance in the Strait or the Gulf of Oman.

@Twinpac, can't see much detail in this publicly released version, but there's video published by the USN of a suspected Iranian vessel picking up UXO:

I thought Trump was Putin's puppet? and a Jew-hating Nazi?

When did this 2 1/2 year policy change take place?

Yes yes, and it appears to be the case. That's how effing evil, unprincipled, and compromised this POS is. Glad you are starting to see the light, Shep.

Another county heard from...

Iranian forces fired missile at US drone before tanker sabotage -- report

...Iranian forces in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday fired a missile at a US drone, hours before an alleged attack by Iran against two tankers in the area.

The surface-to-air missile was fired from a boat and missed its target, a US official told CNN on Friday.

The MQ-9 drone had spotted the Iranian forces approaching the tankers, the official said. He did not say if the aircraft had seen the actual attacks take place.

The unnamed official added that an American reaper drone had been downed in the Red Sea in the days before the attack, likely by Houthi rebels equipped with an Iranian missile....

The description of that vessel doesn't match the words used to describe it by the government. That boat looks like thousands in the Gulf of Mexico - just saying.

There are two things that cast doubt on the source of your post:

1) ~ The Times of Israel

2) ~ An unnamed U.S. official told . . .

I can't help but be reminded of the Bush/Cheney era when Dick Cheney sent a forged bill of sale for yellowcake to another country (Italy) so it would bounce back to the U.S. as evidence proof positive.

So much of what we're hearing from our own government is reminiscent of the phony runup to the Iraq War.

Trump isn't all that clever but then, neither is his base. Or the Republicans in the Senate either, for that matter.
