Earlier this year, we saw the unprecedented disappearance of sea ice from the Bering Sea during a time of year when it should be gaining ice. This trend toward plummeting sea ice in the Alaskan and Canadian Arctic continues, this time centered in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas ... "At the moment, you can essentially sail uninterrupted from the North Pacific to the Canadian Arctic,"

Will 'not building' coal-fired power plants in America counteract the 'we are building' coal-fired power plants in China, and reverse Arctic ice melting?

@#2 ... in force encouraging war ...

Not to worry, the Pentagon has that covered...

New U.S. Arctic strategy omits climate change, takes aim at China, Russia
www.axios.com

...The new strategy, which replaces one the Pentagon issued in 2016, makes mention of melting sea ice and increasing temperatures in the Arctic, but does not cite human-caused climate change as the driver of these trends. ...

The strategy echoes a bellicose speech delivered by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at a meeting of Arctic nations in Finland last month, where he warned that China and Russia are turning the Arctic into a region of great power competition. ...

Glacier National Park glaciers are actually growing – officials quietly remove its ‘Gone by 2020' signs
By Strange Sounds -
Jun 8, 2019

Glaciers appear to be growing, not melting in recent years at Glacier National Park.
Officials at Glacier National Park (GNP) have begun quietly removing and altering signs and government literature which told visitors that the Park's glaciers were all expected to disappear by either 2020 or 2030.

Yeah, there's been a few years of heavy snowfall in that part of the US. (weather vs. climate is the key here)

But it makes for a nice headline, doncha think?

Sure... the 29 that are left from the original 143. I go there every year a few times... long hike to get to an actual glacier.

It's gonna take longer every year.

It's gonna take longer every year.

It is. I live in a world of glaciers and they are all getting smaller or gone. Kind of expected though, no such thing as a stable glacier.

So, it is shocking that there is any ice at all I guess.

Days before the forum with its "clean and green" theme, the latest Chinese-built coal plant opened in Pakistan."

The U.S. probably does more for climate change, even in the Trump admin, than most countries. I dont think there is anything else the U.S. should be doing. And even if it's man made, it's not our fault today. We have made changes. It's the countries with the bigger populations per square inch that's the problem. Go worry them.

Let's face it... ... ... . The snow fall is the thing that determines the life of a glacier. How much has the temp risen in the last 50 years? The snow fall determines it.

Glad you quoted Cunningham Sheep, here's what he ALSO said:

"China was largely on track to meet its Paris commitments related to CO2 emissions even before the formal announcement in Paris, given changes in the structure of the national energy supply and economic structure. "

and this:

"China's President Xi has clearly signaled that China intends to position itself as the political center of gravity when it comes to climate issues, in addition to the economic center of gravity that it has already has become in this important area. Climate policy and technology provide a unique vehicle for China to contribute to the global commons intellectually, economically, and politically. For all the rhetoric of "great power relations" that China has used to frame the US-China relationship, this is an area where a pullback in US climate action truly enables China to take the lead on the global stage. "

aaaaand this:

"China is certainly in a strong position to meet its national emissions peak target and the IEA believes it will do so ahead of time - maybe by 2025 instead of by the pledged 2030 goal. "

Funny how that didn't make it into your cherry picked quotes.
Yes, you're a science-illiterate who relies on Breitbart fueled climate conspiracy theories and Fox news talking points over decades of climate research.
Or are you just that stupid?

Breitbart fueled climate conspiracy
#19 | POSTED BY ZARNON

The article was from NPR doofus.

Here's one from The Guardian

Satellite images show 'runaway' expansion of coal power in China - www.theguardian.com

"The total capacity of the planned coal power stations is about 259GW, bigger than the American coal fleet and "wildly out of line" with the Paris climate agreement, the group said in a new report.

"This new evidence that China's central government hasn't been able to stop the runaway coal-fired power plant building is alarming – the planet can't tolerate another US-sized block of plants to be built," said Ted Nace, executive director of CoalSwarm, which is funded by international green groups and private donations."

From the BBC

China coal power building boom sparks climate warning - www.bbc.com

"Building work has restarted at hundreds of Chinese coal-fired power stations, according to an analysis of satellite imagery.
The research, carried out by green campaigners CoalSwarm, suggests that 259 gigawatts of new capacity are under development in China.
The authors say this is the same capacity to produce electricity as the entire US coal fleet.
The study says government attempts to cancel many plants have failed."

ZARNON - Are you a Pro-Chinese-Coal social media influencer?

Are you claiming that NPR, The Guardian, and BBC are Breitbart influenced sites?

@#18 ... How much has the temp risen in the last 50 years? The snow fall determines it. ...

What temp do mean? the global temp?

What snowfall do you mean? The snowfall near the glaciers at Glacier National Park?

Are you trying to compare local weather conditions with global climate conditions? Surely you can't be that confused.

Is the Glacier National Park in the Arctic? Last I checked it was in Montana.

I still do not know what you are trying to say.

Are you saying that more snowfall in the Arctic would create more glaciers in Montana?

"Edward Cunningham, a specialist on China and its energy markets at Harvard University, tells NPR that China is building or planning more than 300 coal plants in places as widely spread as Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt and the Philippines."

This is exactly what Trumpers wanted.
In the old days, America would be engaging those foreign nations economically.

But now America has closed her metaphorical borders, and created a power vacuum which China is more than happy to fill.

The hegemony is slipping out of our grasp.

I guess some people must truly believe Russia and China have a kinder, gentler machine gun hand.

What does that have to do with your comment, "...Glaciers appear to be growing, not melting in recent years at Glacier National Park...."?

To me, the Arctic ice disappearing is a wide-area long-term warming trend that has been occurring over decades. While the phenomenon you mention at the Glacier National Park is a fairly local short-term weather fluctuation that has been occurring for only two or three years.
