The US military has released a video which it says shows Iranian special forces removing an unexploded mine from the side of an oil tanker damaged in an attack in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. The US also released images of the Japanese tanker apparently showing the unexploded mine before it was removed.

And the captain of the Japanese tanker said it was a flying object that hit his ship.

How many mines fly?

www.nytimes.com

"One of the tankers that were attacked in the Gulf of Oman was struck by a flying object, the ship's Japanese operator said on Friday, disputing at least part of the account of United States officials who had blamed Iran for the attack.

"Our crew said that the ship was attacked by a flying object," said Yutaka Katada, the president of the operator, Kokuka Sangyo."

We know Russia meddled in our election but Trump chose to believe Putin over our own intel agencies but now we're supposed to look at a grainy black and white video and justify an attack on Iran based on that. They are trying to start a war with Iran simply because Trump believes it will help him politically.

Back in my early 20s when I was a devoted follower of Phish, I would travel around the country and document what I saw with my trusty, 1988 Panasonic VHS camcorder. I still have in my possession a grainy, black and white video of a UFO I saw hovering over a Kansas residence back in August of 1993.

With the exciting news of a similar video being proferred by the US government as foolproof evidence of Iran's allegedly clandestine behavior in the Persian Gulf, I am optimistic my dusty old VHS SLP video tape will now be finally accepted by those at the highest levels as proof that aliens do, in fact, exist.

So let me get this straight...

Iranian forces placed a mine on a ship that didn't explode.

After it was reported that it was spotted and the US navy was watching, they then go back out there to retrieve it?

My God they must think we're dumb. Trump et al that is.

#8 | Posted by jpw at 2019-06-14 11:20 AM | Reply

It's not necessarily a false flag operation, but the root is important. The way Iran's military is structured, and disagreements between elected leaders and religious and/or military ones, complicates matters.

From the Washington Post:
"The blasts could also reflect a widening split between pro-diplomacy officials in Iran and hard-liners opposed to further negotiations, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC. The branch of the Iranian military, which boasts land, air and sea forces, answers only to Khamenei and is responsible for Iran's external military operations.

"Iran's security services, including the IRGC, "have a decades-long history of conducting attacks and other operations aimed precisely at undermining the diplomatic objectives of a country's elected representatives," the political risk firm Eurasia Group said in a briefing note Thursday.

Even if the objects were flying - it doesn't rule out Iran. I agree those holes are well above the waterline and where you expect a normal mine strike. I would go so far as to say the attack was not meant to cause an ecological disaster or loss of life. That said think drones and Iran has those as well.

I am now reading conflicting reports on who said what from the crews. The experts should be able to determine the owner of the boat. The plane(s) should have been able to track it's path (on video) as well. The thing is photos and video today are so easily doctored by people with the right software it isn't funny. I trust none of the players in the area on this. That means - Iran, the US, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, et al. Everyone has reasons to do this and history. Given Trump is in charge and has been saber rattling over Iran it either plays into his idiocy or is a false flag to give him more ammo.

Limpet mines are not designed to be at or immersed below the waterline, but above and are designed to disable ships, not sink them.

I now am starting to think it is more the former instead of the latter, one thing that is notable to me is how the Democrats, after they were briefed by the IC about a month ago, haven't bashed Trump at all for increasing the military presence in the ME over the Iran threat and have been pretty quiet about these attacks.

Ummm I am pretty sure the point of a limpet mine is to blow a hole BELOW the waterline. LOL

Why would these idiots place their mines so high?

Like I said, something is seriously wrong with Iranian brains (fact) or they are being setup in a false flag (possible fact).

BTW, I am not sure but I think they have started printing those "Heaven Passports" again. LOL

When you get your butt blown off by US Carrier, show the angels your "passport" (printed by govt of Iran) and they will let you into heaven.

The "rigid limpets" used by the British during World War II contained only 4 1⁄2 pounds (2.0 kg) of explosive,[11] but placed 2 metres (6.6 ft) below the water line they caused a wide hole in an unarmoured ship.

These mines are placed by divers who might have been dropped off by a fishing trawler in the distance, for example.

Or they are being set up.

And when this video was being taken, Amerikanski did not bother to move his fat butt, pick up the Walkie Talkie and warn the tanker... "hey dude... there's some other dudes sticking something to the side of your boat... would you care to have a look?"

Everything is so dumb.

It wasn't put on by a diver. No way no how.

It wasn't from floating on top of the water - it was 8-10' over the water line.

Also Limpet mines are simply magnetic contact mines as far as I know. I can't speak to all the forms that are out there.

Just like the incident in May with 4 ships at anchor in the UAE waters waiting to use their port. Based on what I have witnessed recently they were probably not far from port. That didn't stir up enough conflict tensions though. I honestly wonder if it isn't meant to stir up just enough conflict to raise the price of oil.

#32 | Posted by GalaxiePete at 2019-06-14 02:26 PM | Reply

#32 | Posted by GalaxiePete, Good point, note the tankers were empty. I could easily believe the motive for these acts is primarily to get the price of crude oil up. Who knows who set off what ever. Every party there has a motive. Money.

Limpet mines are generally attached to hulls by small boats, they don't work in water.

These tankers had cargo, but not oil. If money was the underlying objective, they succeeded, as oil is now up over 4% on the spot market.

That is obvious.

Which brings up the question... WHY???

WHY put them on in such a stupid fashion when limpet mines are ALWAYS put in by divers BELOW the waterline?

What is going here? Are the Iranians extra dumb? Or are they being setup be someone who doesn't want to cause real damage?

Also Limpet mines are simply magnetic contact mines

Correct.

magnetic contact mines

The only differences between various types are the kind of timer used and what kind of shaped charge they use. Some are just explosive and some are for causing fires, shooting thermite into the heart of a tanker (the most dangerous kind).

#42 | Posted by J_Tremain at 2019-06-14 03:05 PM | Reply

These were the first kind.. just tiny explosives.

Maybe Iran is too dumb to make the incendiary thermite types? One such mine would have been enough for these tankers full of fuel.

#43 | Posted by J_Tremain at 2019-06-14 03:08 PM | Reply

WHY put them on in such a stupid fashion

Makes them easier to point out in media coverage?

are they being setup be someone who doesn't want to cause real damage?

They just need an acceptable reason to start a war.

I was thinking about this yesterday. When it comes down to it, there are very few countries left in the world we can openly attack without much backlash from the international community.

Iran and possibly Venezuela were the only two countries I could think of. (We will never attack North Korea, China has seen to that.)

Once those two countries are blown up, our MIC will become obsolete.

Perhaps that's why we're selling as much of it as we can to Saudi Arabia.

Tanker owner seems to dispute U.S. account of Gulf of Oman attack

The Japanese owner of the Kokuka Courageous, one of two oil tankers targeted near the Strait of Hormuz, said Friday that sailors on board saw "flying objects" just before it was hit, suggesting the vessel wasn't damaged by mines.

Company president Yutaka Katada said Friday he believes the flying objects seen by the sailors could have been bullets. He denied any possibility of mines or torpedoes because the damage was above the ship's waterline. He called reports of a mine attack "false."

I also thought the US military had much superior imaging capabilities, they keep bragging how they can read tag #s, t-shirts, facial recognition with their tech, yet in broad daylight, we get grainy images.

The US has been engaged in terrorism against the people of Iran for more than 50 years.

And don't forget, Iran, Russia and China have mutual defense agreements, while the US supports butchers and globalist profiteers, with Saudi and uae being card carrying members to both clubs.
