Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, June 13, 2019

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell likes to boast that he's the "grim reaper," bedeviling a chamber where progressive legislation from House Democrats comes to die. Funny guy. But the joke sours fast when the languishing proposals include sensible, bipartisan measures to protect America's elections from another "concerted attack," like the one special counsel Robert Mueller found was launched by Russia in 2016.

FTA:

"Congress did its duty last year by sending $380 million in election security money to the states.

State and federal elections officials say, however, that the money wasn't enough to upgrade antiquated systems. The Election Security Act sponsored by Democrats in the House and Senate would make $1 billion in grants available, and mandate other safeguards. But there's little chance of a Senate vote unless McConnell allows it."

They want $1 Billion? Why would you throw a billion at problem that will cost $20 Billion to do right?

Because it's not a 'federal system' of integrated like-networks. No. The states want each do it "their way" and want the feds to subsidize it.

"We want punch cards here", "We want crayons and chalk over there" "No, We want new Win10 PCs, and laptops for all the officials"

It's a hodge-podge of locally controlled systems and networks that will be set up and used once, then they'll want new stuff from Unkle Sam. Either we fix this nationally by implementing a nationwide secure network, or we don't. The cost starts at $20 big ones. and goes up from there.

If it weren't for some sort of clarifying questions on issues.....who would we have to argue or discuss anything critically with?

When someone like Sheeple or Avigdore questions claims such as, "He broke the law" by asking "what law"?

It's not necessarily a defense of the act...but merely a challenge to the assertion that the law was broken.

If you want to just sulk and claim they aren't concerned with the actions, legal or not, is pretty weak...come up with something better.

Avigdore and Sheeple may very well have Trump posters in their bedrooms for all I know or care....but can any of you ever stick to the issue instead of running to the accusations?

You want to know why I ask?......because hammering them with the accusations isn't changing their positions or their questions.

now...I'm not talking about the insult exchanges....that's more than fair game.

Agreed. Likewise, the US has interfered in almost every election globally where it had an interest. Additionally, the US has INSTALLED their own puppets, dictators, strongmen, and warlords.

What I've said all along was this: The Russian meddling in the 2016 election was BLOWBACK for ALL the election meddling that's been carried out by the US for the last 60 years.

If you want election security, it starts with respecting the elections of other nations. Until that's understood and agreed to, there's nowhere to go but down.

not band-aids.

You ever use a band aid? It's a safety measure used to protect yourself until the body has a chance to heal itself.

There's nothing wrong with trying to take measures to protect the election process.

A complete overhaul of the system will take much much longer and take all 50 states to work together to accomplish.

Again, it's this kind of mentality which will guarantee failure.

You can google it yourself.

But the problem lies in the commitment. Yeah, you schedule a march on Saturday, which gives everyone Friday to get there and Sunday to get back home. That might raise some awareness. Or you can a whole weekend thing, you know a big one, like we just saw in Hong Kong. But then everyone goes home and back to work. They need the paycheck.

However, for something important, like saving millions of lives, ending wars, health care, 2nd Amed. you need to shut down the country.

...for an extended period of time. Everyone walks out. Nobody goes back to work. That requires an organized leadership structure, financial backing, a focused message, planning and preparation, and commitment. It would be organized out in the open, in the media, with the prep work of mini-events leading up to the big one.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, it's better than civil war.

What does bernie say about protecting the climate (I agree), protecting our elections (I agree), and women's choice (I agree)?

THE OPPOSITE OF YOU. - wrong

LOL.

you're not interested in discussion. You're a screecher.

#80 | Posted by SheepleSchism

Then someone else has been posting under your username. Because the last few days have included posts under your username arguing against climate protection (because china pollutes too or something), arguing against election protection (because it's hard), and against choice in abortion.

You should find out who is stealing your username and take it up with them.

Your favorite new sport is obviously denying you said the things everyone saw you say.

You did this yesterday, I provide the quotes and then you said your words don't mean what they mean.

I wrote, "Blames Trump for Ganges river"

As in..."you blame Trump for everything, therefore you'd likely blame him for the pollution in the Ganges river, because he withdrew from the Paris Accord"

Are you always this trifling and petty about such insignificant and meaningless drivel? Because the subject matter at the heart of what you refuse to discuss far outweighs your microscopic examination of a disposable line of text such as "Blames Trump for Ganges river". But if you want to zero in on that morsel fragment as the evidence you've searched for to finally corner Schism or, more likely, as a means to avoid the actual subject matter altogether, I could care less.

It's obvious that you've given no thought to global pollution and it's contribution to climate change, because you've drank the Kool-aid that by purchasing climate change indulgences and driving a Tesla that you've reduced the smog in LA by ZERO. That's why you're dumb as a rock, because of your smug, condescending attitude that you've accomplished something, as demonstrated by your "jealousy claims", not realizing that as you look out to the ocean from the hills, you can't see the raw sewage or plastic garbage clogging the ocean.

But you feel good because battery car? Have you seen China? or India? I have. you're living in a delusion.
