The obvious thing to do is roll back the Trump tax cuts but they're doing exactly what Trump and Republicans wanted. Suckers!

... The U.S. budget deficit widened to $738.6 billion in the first eight months of the fiscal year, a $206 billion increase from a year earlier ...

The billions of dollars being brought in from the tariffs do not seem be making any manner of a dent in the deficit.

2014 $485 2.7%
2015 $438 2.4%
2016 $585 3.1%

2017 $665 3.4%
2018 (est) $739 $1,217 4.0%
2019 (est) $1,091 $1,314

In a 'roaring economy' he and Republicans manage to increase the deficits?! Deficits they care nothing about when they're in power, slashing taxes again and the entire reason we're in this debt mess in the first place.

Tax cuts DO NOT pay for themselves. Republicans did two rounds during Bush and ballooned the budget by over 2x and the national debt by more than 2x, leaving us with systemic deficits for many years to come.

Thanks for nothing, Republicans! "Nothing" being more than they've created with their stupid tax cuts.

Also, pretending to fight pollution by signing documents at black-tie-galas is nothing but political theatre.

But all that work is for nothing if we don't confront Chinese, Indian, and Asian manufacturing, US consumerism, plastics, trash exports, toxic mining, etc.

Happens every time a Rep is in office right after a Dem. Dems just give everything away for free and think the money comes from thin air. So when a Rep gets in office, they have to spend a lot of money to get this country back into reality. You can see this trend over the last 100 years just by researching whitehouse.gov.

It is comical hearing Dems trying to blame Reps though. As if our budgets, deficits, debts, etc. have all been peachy under Dems. But, considering how terribly easy Clinton was able to get his party to believe he balanced the budget, it isn't surprising. Comical, but not surprising.

Our deficit is ballooning because we chose to cut taxes and borrow money to pay for things that taxes should have. Not one dime should be cut from medical research, job training, health and safety programs until the military budget is cut in half. The problem is not spending the problem is spending on things that do not provode a benefit to the nation. Spending $40 billion a year to have an educated workforce is a better option than spending $40 billion per year replacing nuclear warheads we will never use. Both have an identical effect on the budget

Repubicans have back of a napkin math that says the laffer curve peaks at about 2% taxation. Democrats know that we are nowhere near the peak of the laffer curve which actual math tm has shown to be in the 60-70% range. Left of the peak raising taxes does always raise revenue.

Even in its most simplistic variant cutting taxes when the effective rate is 29.6% will never even maybe increase tax collection. It may be that we collect more taxes due to unrelated market forces such as new products or technology breakthroughs but not because we lowered tax rates.

I know a few Dems have some high spending plans. But what's the Democratic Party's plan

the plan is to spend $1 if it prevents us from having to spend $5 and to not "save" $1 if it forces us to pay $10 later

cutting taxes doesn't always save money and cutting spending doesn't always lower costs
