Incentivizing illegal immigration. That's what sanctuary state California does. College financial aid is next.

Do they?

Is that why homelessness in LA, and across the state, is on the rise? Is that "caring"?

Its a feel good care, that you care about, not actually caring. You are like the antiabortion proponents, that drop all responsibility once the child is born. You don't really care about peoples lives, you just want to feel good about yourself.

Human beings get sick, Mackris. I'm sure you've come across one or two in your lifetime.

I think the poster is saying that people without access to healthcare are a burden on all of us

No need for you to get your racist up, makris

They should just let them get sick and die. Or at least wait until their health problems are serious and will cost many times more.

What do they think America is? Some developed, civilized country? They think these people are human beings or something?

#8 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar at 2019-06-10 01:49 PM | Reply

No problem for CA as we know they have a huge GDP, so no stress on the taxpayers of the state. Also, great to attract good honest hardworking people from our southern neighbors.

Or maybe they should just stay in their own countries. Or even then, maybe Mexico should feel bad for dumping all these people on the United States for our taxpayers to take care of....

Dont worry, Trump is working on it!

Many Americans travel there and Costa Rica for good inexpensive healthcare - cheaper than CA will provide.

"cheaper than CA will provide."

LOL. Cheaper than anywhere in the USA. Don't try to pin that on California, unless you're talking the world's finest Hollywood plastic surgeons or something...

This is very smart. We can pay for the mentally ill cheap on the front end. Or we will pay for them at much much higher cost after the ---- hits the fan as often does.

"Incentivizing illegal immigration."

Yeah I remember when Jesus said that very thing.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

But, yeah verily I say unto you....do NOT incentivize illegal immigration!

Is that why homelessness in LA, and across the state, is on the rise? Is that "caring"?

It is is because of the location dummy.

The weather on the west coast is much more conducive to living outdoors than most anywhere else in America. So if you can live outdoors (for free) AND collect benefits you might actually be able to eat.

"The exchange underscored an impasse that's persisted in Seattle a year after Amazon.com Inc. and other companies beat back a city effort to raise money for homeless services through a tax on large employers."

Profit before people.

Of course.

This might be the dumbest post on the DR today...

Homelessness is rising across the country due to rising rent and low growth in wages. That includes across the southern Red states like Texas. This has nothing to do with homelessness.

And you are seriously suggesting that helping people get health insurance is wrong because there is also a homelessness problem?

...Andrea, you need to get help...

"Democrats in the state Legislature on Sunday agreed to make adults between the ages of 19 and 25 eligible for the state's Medicaid program."

The lowest-risk age group possible. So much virtue-signaling without a substantial cost.

"So much virtue-signaling without a substantial cost."

It will avoid even greater substantial cost than not doing it.
How's that for virtue?

lol

Remember when you lunatics freaked out when Obamacare wanted to do this for all American families?

I do.

And now it is just "So much virtue-signaling without a substantial cost"?

I guess we can call that progress.

Would Christianity exist today if Joseph and Mary had fled with the baby Jesus to Egypt only to be turned away at the border and therefore probably Jesus would have been murdered as a baby.

Nonsense... illegals already have free medical care...

They check themselves into the ER all the time. They bring fake Drivers licenses, SS Id's, Passports and Insurance cards. Thanks to Hippa laws... it takes hours for hospitals to verify their status and billing. By the time they figured out they are illegal, the patients have long since gone. Hospitals have giving up verifying patients for billing purposes.

This law is just another well disguised "money grab" for hospitals and doctors.

Now they can send the medical bills to the state capital and remove the cost of verifying and paying bill collectors to chase down payments.

While that does make sense... the law as written will be subject to abuse from both Doctors and Hospitals submitting false claims that can not be proven.

Won't be long before we see California hospital admins and doctors doing the perp walk on the ol' DR.

Yeah they use the same trick as conservatives. They don't have insurance and force insured liberals to foot the bill, like most everything.

How the heck would you know that? Besides, fake ID isn't cheap. They spend hundreds of dollars just in case they might have to go to the ER in the future?

"Would Christianity exist today if Joseph and Mary had fled with the baby Jesus to Egypt only to be turned away at the border and therefore probably Jesus would have been murdered as a baby."

Well, it would have avoided the Crusades, Inquisitions and many Witch Trials...

Be careful comparing illegal immgrants to the messiah. You might send the wrong message: "They're coming here to die for our sins!"

"Would Christianity exist today if Joseph and Mary had fled with the baby Jesus to Egypt only to be turned away at the border and therefore probably Jesus would have been murdered as a baby."

Well, since there were no borders enforced at the country level with natural boundaries, that never would have happened. For example, you just needed to cross some water to get into Egypt. And even when they did enforce it on ground, they mostly had guards watching out for enemies, not people walking back and forth across the borders. Back then, passing border laws was a waste of time because science and technology was so less advanced that doing so wasn't even something any country felt they could accomplish. All of their laws were aimed at enemies, in regards to borders. So, Mary and Joseph migrated LEGALLY because they didn't break any laws and they weren't enemies. Illegal immigrants are breaking the law. So you are comparing apples and oranges.

This kind of argument is what is so frustrating about those who support immigrants breaking our laws. They will come up with anything that isn't even relatable to try to prove to everyone else why breaking laws is OK.

We already pay for uninsured conservative freeloaders' healthcare; at least immigrants contribute positively to our great state.

End of thread.

"Well, since there were no borders enforced at the country level with natural boundaries, that never would have happened."

It's also worth noting that Egypt was not even a country at the time. It was a province of the Roman Empire, as was Israel at the time.
