Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan told his Turkish counterpart that the U.S. will end Turkey's participation in the F-35 jet program by July 31 over the NATO ally's decision to go forward with the purchase of a Russian missile defense system.

This dust-up regarding the jets is more significant than it appears.

Russia has been trying strategically to split Turkey out of NATO. Turkey controls the straits that are critical to Russia's military. So Russia has been trying to split Turkey from NATO and into Russia's realm.

This dust-up with the jets is worth watching, as it is a tactical move in a very critical strategic game.

My concern here is that Pres Trump really does not seem to be in favor of keeping NATO strong, so he may let Turkey go over to Russia's influence realm.

Why is it a concern? NATO is a drain, what does Turkey contribute? Turkey will play both sides, that is not an Ally is it?

so he may let Turkey go over to Russia's influence realm.

Similar to what Obama did with Crimea? Put up a big huff, but worked with them behind closed doors.

In an extensive interview with RBK news site, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the Obama administration's secretary of state, John Kerry, agreed with Moscow that the March 2014 referendum in Crimea, which turned out overwhelmingly in favor of reuniting with Russia, genuinely showed the people's support for the move.

I am of the opinion that Russia's annexation of Crimea was a critical event that the nited States should not have allowed to happen.

Crimea is of very significant strategic importance to Russia. But to the United States, it's importance is only that it doesn't fall into Russian hands.

Would you have supported fmr Pres Obama going to war with Russia over it?

Erdogan has been inviting this for a long time. It's a shame. But what else are we supposed to do?

If you believe Brietbart you will believe that.

""You just don't in the 21st century behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pre-text," Kerry told the CBS program "Face the Nation.""

Has the Coward in Chief even commented at all about the Russian ship comin within 50 ft. of an American ship yet? Or the "dangerous" maneuver by Russian fighter jets with American spy plane?

And you, like Trump take his word over John Kerry's word. Are all of you sold out to Russia?
