Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A secret FBI dossier on civil rights leader Martin Luther King alleges that he had a string of affairs and other "sexual aberrations", as well as links to the Communist Party. The reputation and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr may be facing what one of his biographers has described as a "painful historical reckoning" after shocking new revelations about the Baptist clergyman's relationships with women.

A huge archive of documents recently released from Federal Bureau of Investigation files exposes in detail King's extramarital sexual activities with dozens of women as he travelled the country campaigning against racial inequality. Newly unearthed files also claim the civil rights leader ‘looked on and laughed' as a pastor friend raped a parishioner in a hotel.

There is no evidence that any of the claims in the report were verified. Its cover shows it was assessed in 1994 by an FBI task force on the JFK assassination, which concluded none of the document should be released.

Not sure how to take this, J. Edgar Hoover was long alleged to be trying to discredit and frame Reverend King who he thought was a threat to the Country.

But there is no doubt that the FBI has a long history of spying on US citizens that are in disfavor with the power elite in Washington D.C.

My understanding is the "source" has a book coming out ...

Its water under the bridge, or at least should be.

J. Edgar Hoover- This guy monitored everybody, I am surprised how long he was at the top of the FBI, he must of had dirt on everybody.

I agree, but in this #Metoo era it may have legs.

Interesting that all the UK, Aussie and Russian papers are covering this this, but the US media, not so much.

He was a very inspirational human being who helped change the lives of tens of millions of Americans for the better. Without him, BOAZ may have still been called 'boy!' in North Carolina and had to answer "yessuh?"

There are statues and roads and schools named after him across America.

You'll want to have your family let BOAZ and SNIPER and your other buddies know when they erect the statue for you in Curmudgeonville, CA. Who knows? There may be the sound of two sets of hands clapping!

I had heard rumors but it is a little shocking to see actual numbers, and the rape allegations I had never heard...but that seems more a J. Edgar Hoover construct than reality.

To the American Media, its not the truth that matters but the accusation.

Here we go .... :-)

He was a very inspirational human being who helped change the lives of tens of millions of Americans for the better.

Perhaps, so was Thomas Jefferson, but they want to tear him down. Given this I fail to see the relevance as to how many people he helped.

Here we have MLK laughing at someone being raped.... and you protect that ... *smh*

Perhaps if people knew the truth this would have never happened? Why did American press protect him?

Without him, BOAZ may have still been called 'boy!' in North Carolina and had to answer "yessuh?"

This is absolutely a racist lie.

There are statues and roads and schools named after him across America.

Given the trend, and these accusations, perhaps they should be torn down?

As the article says, none of the claims have been verified, so it is merely hearsay at this point. With JEH's history of doing and saying anything to ruin his enemies, I would prefer to reserve judgement until more is known.

That being said, the #MeToo should have to defend their radical "guilty until proven innocent" ...that the accusations are more important than the truth.

Explaining why we should tear down a man, and his statues, before there is any evidence.

They won't but i am sure it has nothing to do with the truth, but more to do with political allegiances. As Nulli aptly points out.

I got that, but I agree that the evidence needs to be fully vetted, if possible, before stampeding to conclusions, unlike the Retort DRama Club usually does.

He said he believed in a color-blind society, supported gun rights, understood the plight of poor whites, and was opposed to the War in 'Nam.

To an SJW I think that makes him a Hitlerite German.

Now segregation is wanted and not by those that delivered segregation to start.

Now are the Democrats going to realize that the FBI has generally been a rogue, politically driven agency for most of its life? I know you were suddenly in love with them and their FISA abuse when you thought it might hurt Trump - but are you now beginning to remember why you didn't trust them up until Nov. 2016?

Yap.

There's all sorts of democrats talking about guillotining billionaires and splitting up their assets amongst the proletariat class.

In fact it's part of 3 of their platforms. Harris, mayor Pete, and Joe Biden are all calling on the workers to rise up and seize the means of production.

I'm sure it will be no trouble at all for you to find me a single example of it.

I'll wait.

All's fair in love and politics, Silence. If the left has carte blanche to draw comparisons between Trump and Hitler, then pointing out the similarities between Marx and our DSA member candidates is certainly fair game.

Unless a woman comes forward and says something, it wont condemn him with it. It has been an open secret in the black community. But it would take more than one woman coming forward to sully his reputation.

And it still doesnt take away the fact of all the good he did.
