Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, May 22, 2019

Mayor Pete wanted to tell his side of the story. Right-wing media still told it for him. On Sunday evening, South Bend, Indiana, mayor Pete Buttigieg became the third 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful to headline a Fox News town hall, sitting for an hourlong conversation with moderator Chris Wallace before a mostly friendly New Hampshire studio audience.

You seem obsessed with calling Democrats obsessed. Gorilla panic, even.

BruceBanner, not so much on the obsessive scale.

Fox News is a fascinating case study in how media can affect both political aisles, especially when the substance of said media brings controversy as it relates to its accuracy.

Only when justified, amirite!

Agreed, but in that case so is MSNBC (and CNN when they veer too hard towards opinion). Too much of what is on cable news now is opinion passing off as fact, and the mouthbreathers on both sides of the aisle eat it up like the pliable lapdogs that they are.

"Fox News Was Never Going to Treat Pete Buttigieg Fairly"

If you expected differently congratulations on having slept since the 1980's.

No..it's great. Actual independants watch everything and they know what they saw. when the idiot tRump mouthpieces spew their BS all it does is reinforce the narrative that FOX is not only biased, they outright lie.
On sites like this..same thing. I'm sure there are many "watchers" that take the pulse each day. they never post but they read the nonsense that's written and make up their minds.

Clinton was a flawed candidate but she was cheated out of the win. it's more obvious everyday

#13 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2019-05-23 12:00 AM | Reply

Fox Fake News is the worst example in a terrible broadcasting system, whose only purpose is making money. Fox is an extreme blend of partisan news presentations based on scandal entertainment, especially a sex story. MSNBC has emerged as the partisan answer to Fox in the age of Trump. But they make some effort to apply facts and logic to their presentations which Fox can't be bothered with.

Where didn't he get a fair shake? They gave him an hour long of softballs, the "crowd" enjoyed it, standing O's. Did you tune in? NO? seems like you are the one not giving him a fair shake.

Regardless, some talking heads the next day disagree and its "unfair"...

You're a ------' liar. He answered questions about Medicare for all, his youth, race, immigration, sex education, birth control, other Dem challengers, climate change, abortion, and fiscal issues.

He actually addressed all these issues, and all you can do is lie about him.

Few candidates are better prepared to deal with the abusive, libelous insults that roll off the orange sloth's tongue than Pete. Which is the same reason Fox saved their worst criticisms of Pete for when he wasn't there to respond. Pete's record of clever, mature responses to the childish rants of Trump and Fox is already stone cold clear.

Why is that an issue for you?

Beyond being gay and a mayor of a city smaller than the one I grew up in, (which wasn't very large), what has Pete Buttigieg done? He's pretty, can speak with multi-syllabic words and has all the orthodox left views. I think he should face a hostile press. Prove his metal. That will not happen at MSLSD or CNN. I see another Bedo, a flash in the pan without a report.

"How about, "Mr Mayor, how would pay for your proposed programs?""

And he'd answer we should fix our tax code, so the basic structure doesn't funnel money upwards, and the folks who have realized the largest gains due to tax cuts pay the most.

#33 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-05-24 09:40 AM | Reply

#33 | Posted by Danforth, you do realize that the bottom third of the employed pay no income tax at all. The top 5% pay over half the revenue gathered by the IRS. So enplane how that funnels money upwards. What needs to happen is barring congressmen from receiving campaign contributions from lobbyist who put sweet heart deals in regulations. The tax code in under the control of the House.

"you do realize that the bottom third of the employed pay no income tax at all."

Three big reasons for that, all Republican initiatives. Can you name any of them?

Besides, most workers (~70%) pay more in PAYROLL taxes than income taxes.

"So enplane how that funnels money upwards"

It's baked into the equation. Warren Buffet pays a lower percentage of his income in federal taxes than his secretary does.

Another example: a Trust Fund baby opening $50,000 of dividends from Proctor & Gamble pays NO federal taxes of any kind. Meanwhile, a janitor who profits $50,000 by his sweat-of-the-brow labor pays over $10,000 in federal taxes.

" What needs to happen is barring congressmen from receiving campaign contributions from lobbyist"

That's in the Constitution, Einstein.

#37 | Posted by Danforth, So why are the taking campaign contributions from lobbyist? Are you saying that isn't common?
#36 | Posted by Danforth, Pick another state to live in. Texas, Florida and Washington State have NO income tax.
#36 | Posted by Danforth, Remember that is a tax code passed by the Democrat party. Besides, wasn't the money put into a trust fund already taxed. My solution, end corporate tax and tax all income. Including legacy funds, dividends and trusts.

#38 | Posted by docnjo at 2019-05-24 10:21 AM | Reply

#37 | Posted by Danforth, Just out of curiosity, where in the Constitution does it say that? I reread it, all 20 pages and I didn't see it. Considering the term "lobbyist" didn't appear until about 90 years after the Constitution was ratified you have a task before you. Come on Einstein, prove it.

#39 | Posted by docnjo at 2019-05-24 11:02 AM | Reply

"So why are the taking campaign contributions from lobbyist? Are you saying that isn't common?"

No, I'm saying your suggesting of "barring lobbyists" directly contradicts the Constitution. "...the right to petition government". That's lobbying.

"Pick another state to live in. Texas, Florida and Washington State have NO income tax."

We're discussing Federal income taxes. Residents of those states are subject to the same federal taxes as everyone else.

"Remember that is a tax code passed by the Democrat party"

No, we've had three major tax codes during my career: Reagan 86, the two Dubya codes, and the Trump code. All passed by Republicans. And you STILL don't know the three Republican initiatives which caused folks NOT to pay income tax.

You right wingers can't handle reporting and F.A.C.T.S. The one's FauxNews doesn't want you to know.

I'll give you that. Democrats are mostly useless.

That said...what does that have to do with Republican-authored tax codes, and Republican initiatives which caused the percentage of folks who don't pay income taxes to spike?

And speaking of...what are the three initiatives which caused the % of folks who don't pay income tax to spike? Do you know ANY of them??? If not, are you curious at all?
