Saudi Arabia's air defence forces shot down on Monday two ballistic missiles over Taif, one heading towards Makkah and the other over Jeddah, Saudi media reported. The air defence was able to destroy the ballistic missiles fired by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, Al Arabiya said. The Saudi authorities are yet to issue a formal statement.

If true, they will lose all latent underdog sympathies. I can't see any military advantage for the Yemen rebels and their Iranian backers.

It makes no sense.... unless it was a Saudi false flag.

If it was Iranian backed... then Iran has had it.

Any not remotely controlled projectile is ballistic.

I said ballistic missiles as opposed suicide drones (which they have) and cruise missiles (which they don't have).

Some version of Iran made SCUD, of course.

False flag.

OTOH, why stop anyone from firing on Saudi?

I hope their aim is as good as their talk. That wqould put them in deep dodo.

Yeah, it's really easy for the Saudis to smuggle large ballistic missiles into Houthi controlled territory and fire them at themselves.

Do you even think this inanity through before you post it?

Back to the Nooner for you, no one bothers to apply critical thinking there.

Stories like this almost make me forget that Saudi Arabia is bombing Yemen on an hourly basis.

The US supported destruction of Yemen is a war crime initiated by the Saudis. Yemen has every right to defend itself.

Weird flex but okay.

I've been saying for some time we should pull a Oceana; buddy up with Iran and ditch the Saudis. ;)

No. It's ballistic when the propulsion disengages. A cruise missile for example stays powered through its entire flight, and why it is not categorized as a ballistic missile.

If Iran and Saudi go at each other, the U.S. should simply get the hell out of the way. But we're not capable of that. Too much profit in selling stuff for the Saudis to shoot.
