A federal judge on Monday upheld a congressional subpoena seeking President Donald Trump's financial records from an accounting firm, arguing that Congress is well within its rights to investigate potential illegal behavior by a president -- even without opening a formal impeachment inquiry.

The real fight will be over whether the appeals court upholds Judge Mehta's denial of a stay. His opinion is well-reasoned, but until the target complies and turns over the records, Trump will continue trying to run out the clock.

What does this mean

The clause says "No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them [the United States], shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."

The both parties line is meant to disenfranchise voters and trick them into not voting. It creates a false sense of helplessness. Same with the corporate bs. Clinton disclosed all ties. Guess what? They still crucified her for it. If you want to attack a corporate stooge, then remove Orange Hitler.

His opinion is well-reasoned, but until the target complies and turns over the records, Trump will continue trying to run out the clock.

It has been reported that the target (Mazars) wanted to comply but that they needed a subpoena in order to do so. Since the judge has failed to delay execution of his order, I would not be surprised if the docs were delivered to Congress before an appeals court has a chance to rule.

While one author has gained notoriety with his book "Everything Trump Touches Dies", I don't believe that Mazars wants to be one of those "things".

It's possible, but the parties agreed that Mazars would have 7 days to comply after an order was entered. Assuming they don't have everything ready to go this morning, it gives Trump time to appeal, and if he pulls a couple of his own appointees on an appellate panel then all bets are off.

"even without opening a formal impeachment inquiry."

this is the last thing that dems should do. They have strung along so many people for so long so far down this rabbit hole that sunlight hasn't been visible for a years; they are going to keep digging because there's no other option. Even if all their demands were to be fulfilled overnight, if the outcome wouldn't immediately play into their goals, they'd be back tomorrow with more demands. These people are in the throes of extreme and unprecedented cognitive dissonance. It's best to keep them in a small padded room at this point. I particularly love devouring the ten instances of obstruction of justice and the abuse of power in Mueller's Report.

For dessert I gorge on the 17 (known) investigations against Trump and ongoing court cases against him and his family.

Between means I snack on the fact that Federal judges have ruled against the Trump administration at least 63 times over the past two years.

And all them damn Nothingburgers are making me fat! Stop it!

Anyway, after all that gorging I get in my rocker and smoke the fact that Humpy Trumpy's personal lawyer is going to prison for lying for Trump (Individual 1).
