Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A rocket crashed Sunday night in the Iraqi capital's heavily fortified Green Zone, landing less than a mile from the sprawling U.S. Embassy, an Iraqi military spokesman said. The apparent attack, which Iraq's state-run news agency said did not cause any casualties, came amid heightened tensions across the Persian Gulf, after the White House ordered warships and bombers to the region earlier this month to counter an alleged, unexplained threat from Iran.

Iraq hosts more than 5,000 U.S. troops, and is home to powerful Iranian-backed militias, some of whom want those U.S. forces to leave.

False flag? Or the usual Iranian garbage Scud knock-off that can't ever hit anything? Or a small Iranian katyusha knock-off that still can't hit anything?

Or a false flag op?

As we can see from the embedded tweets, things are happening all over the Mid East at faster speed.

Generally rocket attacks are made with 120mm rockets. Small enough to be carried in a 1/2 ton pickup requiring a launcher that can be fabricated anywhere. Literally I seen them made out of angle iron with a car jack as an elevation device. They are electrically ignited with a 9 volt battery. An old car battery works well enough. The war head is basically a 122mm artillery round. They weigh about 70 lbs and are not to ignore as ineffective. Over half our casualties on the FOB in Ramadi were from those things. We could ignore mortars, but that salt shaker sound of one of those things in terminal decent seriously increased my pucker factor. Give you the reason, a 81mm mortar round weighs about 6 pounds. a 120mm rocket warhead, is over 10 times that. The only thing worse, VBIED. They started at 500 lbs, up to 3000 lbs, they had a guidance system called a driver.

How soon till Bolton tries to blame this on Iran?

"Iraqi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasoul told The Associated Press that a Katyusha rocket fell near the statue of the Unknown Soldier, less than a mile from the U.S. Embassy. He said the military is investigating the cause but that the rocket was believed to have been fired from east Baghdad. The area is home to Iran-backed Shiite militias."

The march to war is heading full speed ahead.

#3 | Posted by Nixon, I seriously doubt that. Katyusha rockets are junk that are more likely to kill the launcher than the target. Katyusha is what they use when they can't get hold of a 120.

Best to avoid the widows though.
They get clingy and want a daddy for their kids. Pass.
