German Chancellor Angela Merkel lumped in the United States with Europe's other global adversaries on Wednesday, arguing that the countries on the continent need to band together against the challenges posed by Russia, China and the U.S.

Of course she does. She also thinks the Brexiteers are an enemy and any country that opposes open borders and tries to maintain their national sovereignty against the assault by the Eurocrat elites are enemies.

A United EU, with a population of 513 million, has a stronger currency and economy than the USA, though no single country is even close to us. The USA has long supported a United Europe based on the theory that it's easier to control than 28 separate countries. Germany is the EU's largest economy and Merkel, from East Germany, it's longest serving prime minister of 14 years.

And who in the hell rebuilt their country after WWII and has been protecting them from the commies since 1945? I say, pull ALL of our troops and mnaterial out of europe.

#1. Usa's behavior has nothing to do with it.

The comments hinted at the fact that at least some European leaders no longer view the United States as primarily an ally of the European Union.

Trump is only allies with dictatorships. Not democracies.

Trumpublicans are a bunch of morons who support a dictator because he's a "Republican" who pwns librulz

Saudi Arabia is now apparently the American "conservatives" best friend

Germany and the German people are not and have never been our allies. Sometimes we have common interests but that's as far as it goes. They still haven't forgiven the Jews for Auschwitz.

If the U.S. is a rival, fine. let's pull our military presence from Germany. All of it. Germany is rich. It can afford to defend itself.

We should pull our military out of all of Europe. The only military bases we should have are on US soil.

Everything you post is a lie.

Why bother posting?

Also, go ask Britain about whether they still want to leave the EU. They had a huge change of heart once they found out what it meant.

Merkel was a member of the Communist Party in one of the most oppressive regimes in Europe, lest we forget. They put people in prison for reading the wrong books. She was a member of that regime and supported such actions.

So we fight them over here so we don't have to fight them over there!??

Good plan Vern.

Let's start with GITMO and see how that goes(hint: it won't go anywhere).

Nulli and Sheeple are like our local (Fake News) Lie Detectors.

They let us know now what the current favorite Fixed Gnus spin/lies are. So that way I don't have to destroy my brain by watching Steve Douchie or that insaHannity fellow.

Our troops aren't "defending Germany," numbnuts. US military bases in Europe are strategically positioned on behalf of the US.

That said, I'm fine with closing military bases. But your cult leader wants to increase military spending, not decrease it.

#21 | Posted by JOE at 2019-05-16 07:01 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 4

#21 | Posted by JOE The reason we maintained our presence in the BRD was at the end of the cold war, we already had these bases in Europe. Already had a SOFA, facilities and we needed those to project power if needed. This is no longer the case. We can now move a couple of divisions within three days, a heavy corps within 14 days. I am a little more militant, I say withdraw our membership in NATO. The Russians could not put down a insurrection in their own country in ten years, it is very doubtful they could attract any NATO member, even if we were not there. Note Georgia and the Ukraine were not NATO members.

#24 | Posted by JOE Actually he has proposed no such thing, he did complain that other members were not fulfilling their treaty obligations. Withdraw from NATO is my own argument.

"President Donald Trump has reportedly suggested on multiple occasions that the United States withdraw from NATO."

Yeah yeah, fake news, whatever. I never said he "proposed" it anyway. But if you want to withdraw from NATO, he's definitely your guy.

#28 | Posted by JOE, I served in NATO in Germany for four years. How much time did you live there? Seriously most of the armies I saw in Europe were a joke. Most Europeans think that anyone that volunteers for military service are crazy, criminal or a serious looser. That is an attitude you more than likely share with your ideological partners. You know the guys that gave us two world wars.

Back in the 2000's, a friend in Denmark remarked that the reason many didn't respect Americans at the time was because of Bush. Not because he was elected, but because America reelected him knowing what an utter idiot he was.

Obama restored America's image, especially among Europeans.

If America reelects Trump, we may never regain the respect of the world again.
