Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Thanks largely to free-market forces, more coal-fired power plants have been deactivated in Trump's first two years in office then in Obama's entire first term. When asked about the President's claim to be the savior of coal, veteran miner and industry consultant Art Sullivan bristles. "He's trying to get their votes," he says, standing by the fenced-off entrance to a mine not far from Mitchell where he once served as Face Boss, a coal industry term for managers. "He's lying to them."

remember when the National PeeYeew had an excellent article where it "nailed it" that OBAMA hates coal, but Trump was already its savior that deserved your praise and adulation.

no bias here

Everything Trump touches dies.

Let's see if West Virginia gets the message.

Are we keeping score of campaign promises?
Because I can assure you that Obama told some whoppers.

He even fooled me into voting for him the first time around.

Hope and Change. What a load.

Easy to push a boulder down a mountain. Hard to stop it or push it back up.

coal is still king...but it is cheaper to move natural gas in established pipelines.

we should go back to wood and chop down all the trees in america again like we did 150 years ago. when we run out just invade canada and chop more - those commie leaf wusses don't know what to do with all that wood other than dump it on us for cheap.

no real changes in overall coal traffic though from obama to trump - just normal capitalism with parasitic political fakery following the trends

"coal mines produce infinite amounts of coal from one vein...whowoulda thunk?"

Nice attempt at moving the goalposts. Trump said he'd bring coal back; he lied, and some folks will still defend his lies.

Stating "goalpost moving" is such a lame response though, worse than lying.... let me educate you pal, local veins of coal are eventually depleted and the company then moves to the next hill to mine if feasible. Cost vs. benefits is the game in mining and for that matter any resource we extract from the earth. Fluctuating coal costs can make it affordable or not to pump out the water and allow miners go back and restart the old mines extracting the precious mineral from deeper depths or it can make them pack it up and move on.

i'd rather have coal energy then a great lakes oil catastrophe caused by a canadien company with a crap record of environmental stewardship....

Oh I'm very aware of that. My point was you're using different measurements during Obama's era vs Trump's era. Did coal veins deplete under Obama? You're pretending they didn't.

Natural gas has become cheaper, more abundant and it's cleaner than coal.

It's a superior product and a better value.

Thanks, Capitalism!

that's because of Natural Gas is cheaper.

why does the Pic show a cooling tower from a Nuke Plant? "they" try to make you think that's smoke / pollution, but it's steam!

Even "Capitalism" is smarter than Humpy Trumpy.

But, regardless, it is still Obama's Fault... somehow.

Maybe you should have read the caption?

"Energy plants are increasingly powered by cheaper and cleaner alternatives to coal."

Maybe it is a pic of one of the cheaper and cleaner alternatives to coal?

"Natural gas has become cheaper, more abundant and it's cleaner than coal."

Like progressives said about 10 years ago?

Way to keep up!

Trump Republicans are not for cleaner alternative fuels because of Liberal Democrats or something, something.

"Under Trump's plan, EPA would allow states to decide whether or not to cap power plants' carbon emissions. And where states pursuing emissions reductions could once employ energy efficiency and renewables as part of their emissions strategy, the updated plan limits their options to improvements in coal plant efficiency."

And then there is this crap:

"Hillary wanted to put up wind. Wind," he told the crowd. "If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value." He then introduced his newest argument, telling the audience, "And they say the noise causes cancer," before mimicking the sound of a turbine as the crowd laughed and applauded.

"And of course it's like a graveyard for birds. If you love birds, you'd never want to walk under a windmill, because it's a very sad, sad sight. It's like a cemetery. We put a little statue for the poor birds." --The King of 10,000 Lies.
