Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

As the stock market nosedives amidst President Donald Trump's escalating trade war with China -- to which China has responded in kind -- Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton has some words of comfort for the farmers watching their financial futures swirl down a MAGA-branded toilet bowl: Hey, at least you aren't a dead in a war!

Speaking with CBS This Morning about Trump's tariffs, Cotton admitted that, yes, the president's plan will actually end up hurting American consumers who will be forced to pay more for imported goods (something the president either doesn't understand, or won't admit).

But, Cotton added: "That sacrifice is pretty minimal compared to the sacrifices that our soldiers make overseas that are fallen heroes who are laid to rest in Arlington [national cemetery] make."

Pretty pathetic that Cotton would stoop this low. Trumpublicans are beyond even pretending to care about our troops anymore though.

""That sacrifice is pretty minimal compared to the sacrifices that our soldiers make overseas that are fallen heroes who are laid to rest in Arlington [national cemetery] make.""

Using this logic there is nothing that the administration could do that would justify people's criticism except for I don't know what.

Tom Cotton has long been a traitor to the United States.

I doubt he is making any sacrifice whatsoever.

Trump shouldn't take the farm states for granted this year.

"Eat ---- and Like It" isn't a useful campaign slogan.

People who have served in the military would never make this type of ignorant comment.

In so doing, Cotton, using this kind of rhetoric, is un-American.

So eff him with a rake twice.

Cotton's false equivalence of you are not suffering until you die is just plain arrogance.

Losing a home or business or farm is suffering. Lets see Cotton stand by his words and vote to hold back Fat Nixon's $15 billion in welfare payments to farmers.

America, barely better than being killed in war.

So because someone didn't die a horrible death they have no grounds to complain about anything?

Tommy boy needs to go home.

Analogizing farmers to soldiers in deadly conflicts is about as stupid as it comes. That's GOP logic for you. Hell, I'm almost surprised Cotton didn't pull out the old "anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger" line. What an ass.

White on white crime since the beginning of time. Some things just never change.

Tom Cotton is the anti christ.

ummmm well..... let's pretend Hillary won... and these Tariffs are simply taxes that the Democrats would have tacked on eventually...

Heck, the Tariffs are probably cheaper...

Run, Hillary Run...
