Doris Day passed away early this morning at her Carmel Valley home, having celebrated her 97th birthday on April 3 of this year. Nearly 300 fans gathered in Carmel last month to celebrate Day's birthday. Day had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia , resulting in her death. She was surrounded by a few close friends as she passed. Day was born Mary Ann Von Kappelhoff, on April 3, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Day's life's work -- music, films, and animal advocacy -- comprise an enduring legacy. She began her professional singing career at age 15, and she had her first hit, "Sentimental Journey," with Les Brown's band. That tune, and her signature "Que Sera Sera," were her biggest hits.

In just a couple of generations we went from Que será, será to human garbage like the Kardashians. Ask Alexa to play Sentimental Journey. Recently discovered by me - it is one of my favorites. RIP Doris Day.

When I began to appreciate music, she was already in her 60's. My grandfather used to talk about her like she was the apple of his eye. Then I realized how life can be so cruel. We're so beautiful and handsome, turning unrecognizable in our old age.

Learn how to live your life to the fullest. At any moment, it can end... even if you live.

All her husbands were dogs, so she decided to divorce them all and, for the remainder of her life, just live with the actual animals.

She had a great run. I mean, how many virginal actresses are also mentioned in a Beatles song? That's some good cultural impact right there.

A public figure who lived a life most would envy, even with the creepy husbands. Will always be a huge star in her hometown of Cincinnati. And with good reason. RIP...
