Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

We know we are dead when we die because our brains keep working to make us aware of what's happening around us, haunting new research suggests.

This means you are essentially 'trapped' inside your dead body with your brain still working, if only for a short time.

More surprising still, there is evidence to suggest the deceased may even hear themselves being pronounced dead by doctors.

It has to be a bitch for people like Trump who see an evil face that utters, "hi there, some call me Old Scratch. It may get really hot in a sec, and we don't have any Trump Water, but at least you'll see all your friends."

I had a 21 year old cat that in his last year was blind and deaf. He would bump his way around the house to go from room to room and had to be fed by hand.

He just got weaker and weaker until his last 48 hours he just laid on his side and tried to move his legs.

The last 6 hours he was stretching out his front legs trying to move but could barely do anything.

When I was getting ready for bed I went back downstairs to check on him and picked him up. I held him in my arms so he was upright. His head and right leg were free.

I watched him barely breathing.

Finally I noticed he didn't seem to be taking a breath and then something happened that has stayed with me.

He lifted his head up stretching his neck and looked up as if he was seeing something and he lifted his right leg completely straightened about 45 degrees that he hadn't had the energy for hours.

I saw him reach with his right leg towards something that he was facing exactly at the same time.

His head and leg were lifted up for no more than a half a second and he collapsed.

Let me tell you, I saw just how much something alive changes when the life is gone out of it.

He had been a weak cat but was still alive.

He turned into something limp about the only way I can describe is like holding a towel limp in your arms.

So...what did he see? Having had cats for decades his behavior was just as if he was responding to someone calling his name and he was about to be picked up.

I wonder....

(or maybe it was just his brain responding from a lack of oxygen)

In your f**king dreams!! :-)

No, I'll be reflecting on the fact that I tried to lead a good life, help people, and leave the world a little better than I found it.

We had an experience 20 years ago or so that made us believers there is more to life than merely a physical existence:

One of our three dogs, the biggest, was about 15 years old at the time. He was in an animal hospital overnight getting IV fluids.

About 2 or 3 am, the two smaller dogs, who were on the bed, woke us up. Both had their ears out, heads cocking side to side, tails wagging, yipping at my side of the bed where our big guy's bed was next to me on the floor. They were clearly seeing something.

At 8 am the vet called to let us know our big guy had passed in the night.

There was no other plausible explanation for what the other two dogs were doing than that he came by the house to say goodbye or something.

I for one believe we're spiritual beings going through the earthly experience. There are simply too many accounts from thousands of people who've been clinically dead and revived who've described similar experiences of seeing their own bodies, being met by beings/people they knew on Earth who'd passed, going somewhere else, seeing light, etc etc. Little children to seniors.

Some try to explain it as brain activity. However, a neurosurgeon whose cortex was completely shut down - zero brain activity and no way his brain could have conjured up what he saw - had a similar 'near death' experience and wrote a book about it called "Proof Of Heaven." He was an agnostic beforehand, but not after that experience.
