As head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal counsel, William Barr wrote a memo concluding that the FBI could forcibly abduct people in other countries without the consent of the foreign state. He refused to provide the complete memo to Congress, but said he would provide an account that "summarizes the principal conclusions." Sound familiar?

There is no reason to trust Barr's "summary" of the Mueller report, nor is there any reason to trust him to redact it.

Barr was hired to bury the Mueller report. Period.

#2 It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Mueller has to say about the redactions.

Barr = GOP fixer from way back. Would love to be proven wrong, but it sure looks like Trump found his Roy Cohn.

51 votes were necessary to confirm William Barr. The vote was 54 YES, 45 NO.

Democrats 3 44
Republicans 51 1

Democrats Joe Manchin (W Vir), Doug Jones (Ala) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz)voted to confirm Barr and one Republican,
Rand Paul (Kty), voted against Barr.

Everyone knows Barr got BushI and his team of White House crooks home free after Iran-Hostages for Missiles and Cocaine for Contras, making Trump's crimes look petty by comparison.

Everyone should know elections are for show.

Everyone should know the country is run by a right wing (Fascist) deep state bureaucracy.

Everyone should know the Democrats play along to get along.

"making Trump's crimes look petty by comparison."

Baloney. Colluding with Putin is not petty. Telling Russians before he was elected that he would take away the sanctions on Russians was not petty. He committed real crimes and now Barr is trying to cover up those crimes. Barr should end up in prison.

Should William Barr Recuse Himself From Mueller Report? Legal Experts Say Attorney General's Ties to Russia Are Troubling

This much is known: On Barr's public financial disclosure report, he admits to working for a law firm that represented Russia's Alfa Bank and for a company whose co-founders allegedly have long-standing business ties to Russia. What's more, he received dividends from Vector Group, a holding company with deep financial ties to Russia.

Alfa Bank
Barr's former law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was counsel from March 2017 until he was confirmed as attorney general in February 2019, represented Russia's Alfa Bank. (Barr earned more than $1 million at Kirkland.)

Most likely Trump did not believe he could win and most polling and the popular vote supported that conclusion. We know Trump depends on Russia now to finance those deals, since no one else will do business with him any more and he was interested in a real estate deal in Moscow. There probably is an element of political collusion between Trump and Putin for continued support in exchange for lifting sanctions. Either Barr is lying outright, or that case is very difficult to prove.

But compared to the propaganda power of the Republican Party, the Cambridge Analytica, Brad Pascal, the Russians influence was minor. I do not mean to suggest it should be tolerated. Obama's sanctions were the correct response. It is ridiculous to suppose that Russia got Trump elected. Gerrymandering, the electoral college and the continued failure of Democrat leadership to abandon feeding at the Corporate trough did that. The hypocrisy of all this blame the Russians is especially outrageous when you consider that the USA really did get drunkard Yeltsin elected a second time and then planned the transition to a free market economy only to have it implode which led Yeltsin to resign in tears and appoint Putin in his place.

Apparently that is ok with McConnell and the rest of the Republicans in the Senate and several turn coat Democrats. The power of money is incredible, our leaders happily sell out our government to Russians for a few pieces of silver.

I think I would need some stronger proof that America got Yeltsin elected than just a conspiracy theory repitition.

"Either Barr is lying outright, or that case is very difficult to prove."

Of course Barr is lying, that's why he was hired. General Coverup rides again! Everyone in Washington knew what we were getting for an AG when he was appointed by Trump.

One thing we don't know enough about is the connection between Cambridge Analytica and the Russians. We may not get to the bottom of it here, but perhaps they will in Britain.

Gosh you mean trump found the one candidates for AG that had a history of helping the administration hide things from congress and the public?

Anyone who still calls russiagate a "hoax" is truly a moron. As is anyone who repeats trump's "total exoneration" lie.

It should interest you to know that Barr is a compulsive liar, so nothing he says can be trusted, including anything he says about Mueller.

The only thing that interests him is owning liberals.

At any cost.

Hey RCade, when i posted this i used the "extra text" field as the section revealing that Barr's summary was inaccurate. Now that's been replaced by a tweet. Seems a little counter productive.

Shut up? I'm just getting warmed up. You're going to be in tears tomorrow, and I'll be your shoulder to cry on. :)

You're going to be in tears tomorrow,

You've got me confused with someone else.

I've never put any eggs into the Mueller probe.

I'm part of team, "Hillary lost in 2016, let's figure out a game plan for 2020."

That doesn't mean I'm not curious to see what Mueller has been doing for the past two years.

That doesn't mean I'm not suspicious of why Barr couldn't release the report Mueller's team had put together which they deemed acceptable for the general public.

The attempt to bury Mueller's report has gotten me more interested in what it says than I had been.

Either way.

"You lunatics don't stop." Is justifiably attributed to conservatives, who have, since 2008, been questioning Obama's citizenship.

Conservatives own it. You guys are the most vindictive, spiteful people history has ever known.

You're going to be quite busy repeating talking points about how if you commit a crime in open view of the public, then it's not a crime.
