Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Kudos to Bernie Sanders for saying that he will celebrate tax day by releasing his tax returns for the last 10 years. Quite right. And congratulations to the Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate for acknowledging that he has become a millionaire. The next step might be for Sanders, who routinely vilifies "millionaires and billionaires" on the campaign trail, to say something constructive about work and wealth, and how to use public policy to promote them. When asked about his happy financial status, Sanders offered this bit of wisdom: "I wrote a best-selling book. If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too." Oh. But what if you're the owner of a small business, or an entrepreneur, or a dentist? Are those equally acceptable routes to becoming a millionaire? What if you're a farmer, or an engineer, or an investor? Do those count?

Bernie Sanders has spent his career offering simple slogans to address complex problems: free college, break up the banks, Medicare for All, and more. He has promoted impractical, unaffordable and ineffective projects at the expense of achievable policies that would benefit millions of Americans. And he has done all this while pointing his finger at the easiest of targets: millionaires and billionaires.

Now that he has become one himself, Sanders's story has become a bit more nuanced. American politics would benefit if his rhetoric and policies became a bit more nuanced, too.

"Follow this one weird trick to become a millionaire"
-Book by Bernie Sanders

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is now a millionaire, hit back at criticism of his growing net worth, crediting his book for his cushy financial situation.

"I didn't know that it was a crime to write a good book which turns out to be a best-seller," the 2020 hopeful said Saturday during a Gary, Indiana, community meeting, CNN reported.

Sanders then pointed out that he has advocated for progressive taxation, meaning, "If I make a lot of money, you make a lot of money."

"So again, I don't apologize for writing a book that was No. 3 on the New York Times best-seller, translated into five or six languages and that's that," he added.

He should apologize for villainizing millions of people while secretly desiring to be them.

He should apologize for lying to his followers about the evils of financial security.

I assume #4 has a link to something that could roughly be construed to Bernie Sanders villainizing people who write books and make some money doing it and he's going to post it here.

I can only conclude the average iq of the bernie bro is about 5.

Dude goes around blabbering with every 2nd and 3rd word being millionaires and billionaires as the only source of the world's problems.

A few weeks ago, even someone earning 100k was the devil.

But now it's all good for Bernie. I assume everyone else is still evil.

For many people, if the taxpayer is funding your lifestyle, you write for free.

For a guy who is asking everyone to give up their money for others, he sure isn't walking the walk.

Damn Bruce.

That rash flaring up?

Corky already posted this similar article.

And I pointed out to you Bernie never said to eat the rich.

He said tax them.

It's clear, you hate Bernie.

So you're lashing out.

If Bernie ever said, "Burn the Rich", you'd have a point.

He never did.

You don't understand what Bernie is proposing.

It's not socialism.

But. You know which words to use to stir up discontent in the Democratic Party.

Too bad you're so heavy handed with your trolling.

Be a bit more subtle. Then you'll be more effective.

You seem utterly confused.

Perhaps you should actually listen to what he says.

Or not.

You seem content to repeat the same stupid shht in every thread.

It's not socialism.

Oh but it is ..... you need to look at history ...

Throughout the history of socialism and communism, what he is doing and proposing is "socialism".

Bernie's gunna show you, one funny flag at a time. That's the mark of a movement, right there.

Leftists still haven't recognized that the top-tier communists always live better than the rest, despite the professed ideology. Read Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipelago" for a clue. It's also in narrated form available on youtube if you would prefer to listen while driving or doing other things.

"Wokamala Harris reported almost 2 million in income."

Remind me...is income good or bad? Or does it depend on the letter after the name?

#26 | Posted by Danforth at 2019-04-15 02:27 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

.is income good or bad?

According to Sanders and Harris, it's bad unless they themselves are the ones making that much income.

I would go with "Yes".

Whereas Nulli's barometers are exactly the opposite: Trump making money is an indicator of his success; Sanders, an indicator of his failures.

Uh, yeah dude.

You must be unfamiliar with George Orwell's "Animal Farm."

Bernie, and most Socialists, will always see themselves as pigs.
