Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, April 03, 2019

On Tuesday Julia Beck testified against the Equality Act (H.R. 5) before the House Judiciary Committee. Beck is a lesbian who was booted out of the Baltimore LGBT Commission for describing a male transgender rapist as a male and saying that men can't be lesbians.

Advocates of the Equality Act characterize it as anti-discrimination for LGBT people and a much-needed extension of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Nearly 300 Democrats (and a few Republicans) support the bill. It is scheduled for hearings later this spring, and a vote this summer. It will likely pass the House, if not yet the Senate.

It's cool. Under Title IX if I was a horny -------- I could just walk into the ladies shower room after gym, strip, dance around with my thing hanging out and ask the young girls to let me borrow their -------- - because that's not sexual harassment at all now. And yes, that actually happened.

Title IX was supposed to stop sexual harassment - instead it amplified it exponentially.

Hey, RCADE, in the name of headline accuracy you should change the word "feminist" to "TERF" for trans-exclusionary radical feminist.

Lesbian TERF Spreads Anti-Trans Agenda on Fox News

"I never thought I'd be on Fox News of all places. I don't trust the right wing. I don't trust Fox News," Beck told the Sun about her appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

"I do feel kind of nervous about working with the right wing because they have opposed women's bodily autonomy and lesbians' sovereignty," the 26-year-old said.

Yet she appeared on Carlson's show Tuesday and voiced her anti-trans views while Carlson nodded in agreement with her.

"When we get down to it, women and girls all share a biological reality. We are all female," Beck said. "But if any man, if any male person can call himself a woman or legally identify as female, then predatory men will do so in order to gain access to women's single-sex spaces.

Laura,

Your schtick is getting old.

You literally label everything you disagree with as "hate".

Mustang is right. You used to be more interesting.

Juxtaposed against LGBTQ witnesses telling their personal stories and experienced, qualified experts in law, policy, and ministry, Beck was continually offered more time by committee Republicans to share her transphobic layperson's views on law, medicine, and policy. The "evidence" that the Republicans allowed into the record via Beck's testimony is mere unsubstantiated, pseudoscientific, fear-driven conspiracy theory.

And while Beck could not substantiate her outlandish claims, it is in fact transgender and gender non-conforming people who are in peril.

We cannot ignore the fact that conservative groups like the Heritage Foundation are strategically linking up with other anti-transgender ideologues to reinforce the Right's attacks on existing civil and human rights protections and to bolster blocks on updates to outdated discriminatory laws, taking advantage of a political atmosphere emboldened by Trump's anti-transgender Cabinet picks and federal judicial appointments.

By choosing to unite with these self-styled "feminists," who represent a transphobic fringe largely rejected by modern mainstream feminist and LGBTQ movements, the Heritage Foundation is attempting to falsely equate their transphobic ideology with Left movements, drive a wedge between trans people and the rest of the LGBTQ community, and frame the movement for transgender liberation as an issue that even those on the Left can't get behind.
