Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Donald Trump on Wednesday went after the late Sen. John McCain once again, saying that he "gave him the kind of funeral that he wanted," but "didn't get a thank you." Speaking in front of a crowd at a tank plant in Lima, Ohio, the president continued the attacks on McCain that he began over the weekend. "I have to be honest, I've never liked him much," Trump also said of the former senator in extended vent session that received a cool reception in the room. "Hasn't been for me."

I can understand how Trump's rally-crowd supporters will stay with him no matter what he says or does. They have long since drunk his Kool-Aid and proven themselves to be suckers to conman Trump -- just as Mitt Romney noted. (Address at U. of Utah, May 3, 2016)

But Republican lawmakers! I cannot understand how an intelligent lawmaker could possibly in any way support a wholly despicable excuse for a human being with no moral compass -- that is Donald J. Trump, Sr.

I have voted for Republican congressmen and senators in the past, but never again will I vote for anyone who in any way supports that embarrassment of a president we currently have in the formerly United States of America.

Hey, Sniper, what about Johnny Isakson? You know, Republican senator from Georgia. Is he a RINO too?

Here's what Isakson said today:
"America deserves better, the people deserve better, and nobody -- regardless of their position -- is above common decency and respect for people that risk their life for your life. When the president is saying that that he doesn't respect John McCain and he's never going to respect John McCain and all these kids are out there listening to the president of the United States talk that way about the most decorated senator in history who is dead it just sets the worst tone possible."

Simple Sonny....

Last election... Trump offered his support to Republicans running for Congress. About half of them took his help... the other half wanted nothing to do with him... that half lost completely. This WAS NOT a Democratic turn during the 2018 election... it's just that democrats got elected to seats that didn't get Trump support... a serious miscalculation by those republicans that lost.

Why say nasty things about McCain? Simple... Cindy McCain is setting herself up to run for McCain's old seat. Trump is putting the KABOSH on that. With just a few words, he seriously destroyed Cindy's fund raising ability and political support within the party for a run.

Because of the 2018 midterms, Trump now has a new role, Kingmaker... either you support him now or he won't support you later possibly losing your seat...

So as much as they hate it, Republicans are beginning to fall in line. They need the money and the crowds that Trump can bring.

It's called politics...

As long as Trump has the juice, nothing they can do.

Plenty of trump supported republicans lost. The blue wave was historic.

They could stand up for their principles and ethics if they had any. But they value their power more than they value their ethics so now they fellate a con man.

Donald Trump's only real role in John McCain's funeral was authorizing the use of the military aircraft that transported McCain's coffin, and members of his family, from Arizona to Washington D.C. and then the transfer to Annapolis for the final burial service.

john McCain died with his thumb held down
trump thinks it was, to deny him his crown

trump wasn't welcome at the senators' grave
and the rebuke has made him, that memory's slave
in the midst of a speech, with words to be read
trump takes the time then, to speak ill of the dead
the presidential crypt keeper implies the family owes him a lot
if it wasn't for trump..maybe no Arlington plot

trump's well known for no self control...
a lack of compassion, no semblance of soul
but hopefully the turmoil caused by satan's own spawn
will lead us all in 2020, to a progressive dawn

What's going to have to happen before Republican politicians in the Hiuse and Senate finally say, "This guy is sinking our party. And we're all going down with him."

Sure, if you admit that you let a scary clown take over your party, it looks bad and will hurt you, but it'll be so much worse if you ride him out and go down with him.

Even if you, a Republican politician, are secretly hoping Trump will lose in 2020 so you can at least start rebuilding, consider this: If Trump loses he will still be president for 2-1/2 months after the November 10, 2020, election. So what's he going to be tweeting starting that night? "RIGGED!!"

Then he'll order an investigation into how his Democratic opponent rigged and stole the election, and order any inauguration suspended pending the outcome -- ranting and screaming on Twitter the whole time. And he surely won't be leaving the White House while the investigation is pending. So you'll have to impeach and convict him anyway.

Even if he doesn't succeed in blocking the inauguration, you know his rally base will be ranting and screaming (and worse!? ... Much worse??) right along with him. So what's going to be worse for the Republican Party? That? Or the party taking it upon itself to clean house right now? (Yes, you'll lose Trump's rally base. You're going to lose those folks anyway when he's out of office and they wake up.)

And a final question: Where is the Republican Party going if Trump wins?

#24 | Posted by nimbleswitch at 2019-03-21 07:45 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Oh, and if Trump wins his party's nomination and runs in the 2020 general election, you can be certain that SOMEONE will start a symbolic effort -- supported by a whole lot of social media -- to write in John McCain.

"Then he'll (Trump) order an investigation into how his Democratic opponent rigged and stole the election, and order any inauguration suspended pending the outcome"

I guess he might be able to do that up until twelve noon on a certain day. If he wants to do more he's really going to have to step up to that dictator plate. Again it gets down to which Trump shows up after the election, the Coward or the Desperate Man.

Given Trump is already stonewalling, I predict Desperate Man will be the answer. If so, I know how Trump will behave. What's so very, very interesting to me is how his tribe will behave. Most especially those who come here.

Actually I sort of hope that Preznit Trumplethinskin is re-elected but the Dems take the senate... just for funzies... the clowns go on and on about social change yet ever time they put a F***UP in office for twin terms... the lame duck term is always worse and Dems always always always get what they want in the end.

Its the hard way around... but seriously... what ever it takes. All their hot button issues over the past 50 years are flushed down the can... so go ahead re-elect your favorite bozo... and kiss your tax breaks good bye and enjoy the free medical and living wage for all.. brought to you by pot smokers using whatever restroom they prefer... you know its coming. We always get what we want... they get hollow victories.

Now watch the paranoid clown brigade come out with their polls and such... so we can ignore those too.

Trump is Kingmaker...

...of Democrats:

🌊 Democrats won control of the US House
🌊 Republicans Suffer Worst House Defeat in U.S. History Based on Popular Vote
🌊 Democrats national lead in raw House votes broke the record for largest vote total in the history of midterm elections
🌊 Democrats earned 53.1 percent of the overall vote in House races while the Republicans earned only 45.2 percent
🌊 Democrat's vote margin bigger than Tea Party's in 2010.
🌊 Democrats received over 61,000,000 votes (Republicans received 45,000,000 in 2010)
🌊 Biggest GOP loss since the Watergate mid-term election in 1974
🌊 Republicans lost 323 state legislative seats (367 since Trump took office)
🌊 Republicans lost 7 governorships, including key 2020 Midwest states in PA, WI and MI.
🌊 6 state legislatures flipped control from GOP to Democratic (7 since Trump took office)

In Orange County, California, what was once known as Reagan Country, there are 6 Congressional Districts:
Before November 6th, the GOP held 4 of the 6
🌊 Now, Democrats hold all 6 seats

In New England, the place where the expression "rock-ribbed Republican" was created:
🌊 Democrats hold all 21 Congressional seats
🌊 11 of 12 US Senate seats are held by Democrats (or independents who caucus with Democrats)

In the races for the US Senate:
Republicans defended 9 seats and lost 2 (a 22% loss rate)
🌊 Democrats defended 26 seats and lost 4 (a 15% loss rate)

Thanks, "Kingmaker" Trump.

No doubt about it the clowns want us to be afraid of the "awesome ferociousness" but really the party of the "bathroom toe tappers"...remember them the next time they tell you they are afraid of who gets to go to which bathroom... in general all uppity about social / economic/ international issues... and they hire a boisterous representative such as Bush2 and Trumplethinskin only put the spotlight with how out of touch they are. Right now the left does little other than challenge his campaign diatribes and contrasting what his presidency actually is... with a shopping list of how he was going to change things.

Counting his lies
Counting his swamp monsters
Counting the centimeters of his mushroom
Counting his mistresses
Counting his business failures and dubious claims of wealth
Counting the amount of money Mexico is contributing to the wall
Counting the entire shopping list
Counting success of his tax reform
Counting his success with adversaries Putin and Kim

you name it... on his shopping list of stupid... we just keep tabs... the longer he is in the more they screw themselves.

I think most Trump supporters that I personally know are not necessarily real supporters of trump , but rather they allow their disdain for the left cause them to support trump over that disdain.

They all remember being called a deplorable by Hillary Clinton and they blame the entire left for that.

It's very irrational and it's difficult to talk to them.

Eb, interesting point.

Why do you suppose those who took offense to her quote, refuse to acknowledge she said, 'half of Trump supporters' were 'Deplorables'. Why did all the highly offended (and PC Bunny as hell, evidently) Trump supporters self define by claiming offense, unless they were in the deplorable half.

Do you think your personal acquaintances were in the bottom half of Trump supporters, you know, the Deplorables?

Why do you suppose they were so committed to counting themselves in the bottom half of the Trump supporter percentile? Why did they want to argue their way down to the 'bottom half of the class' identity.

That is an odd human behavior percentile for a guy to go out of his way to self admit.

Why would you think they were so bruised by that slight of a Non-PC comment, from a Candidate who they savaged with every conceivable profane insult, political personal and sexual, for the previous 30 years?

Why do you suppose?

There's been plenty to criticize McCain for, but look at just what Trump has been critical of. Being a POW. Voting against a crappy "repeal and replace Obamacare" that wouldn't have actually repealed and replaced. McCain's family not saying "thank you" for a funeral that Trump had nothing to do with.

Trump is a petty, vindictive whiner.
