Joe Biden is carrying a 20th century voting record into a 21st century political dogfight. During more than 40 years in public life, Biden has taken an array of stances at odds with today's Democratic Party consensus. As he now prepares for his third presidential campaign, that record could hamper him in a big field of mostly younger, more liberal primary rivals.

Future Democrat voters, just remember this;

In the minds of moderates, you extremist liberals are only slightly less belligerent than the extremist conservatives.

Biden, like Obama, will get the moderate votes required to win the presidency. Don't screw this up by requiring him to be some kind of ultra left wing purist.

Let the wing nuts run their stooge (who has made himself an ultra right wing purist) and lose the election.

Plugs Biden has all the appeal of a package of food left in the frig too long. Moderation in the Democrat party is dead.

Re 1 - Exactly. Some people think Trump is so despised they will vote for whomever tbe Dems put out there, and that is not the case at all. Probably 2 SC seats hang in the balance, and having an electable Dem is more important than the 'left wing purist' some want (Hell,I might even count myself in that group). Any movement left is going to have to be gradual, at least nationally, IMO.

This goes with my philosophy, but in this case it would be tragic. If you want to fix healthcare you gotta take over the services in one swoop. It will take years to recover, but death by a thousand paper cuts will end up with a system that has a byzantine structure no one understands.

Biden is a racist of the LBJ type ... you'll defend him to the grave, but he's still a racist...

Biden being creepy.

I wish those on the left understood and appreciated the Overton Window of Political Possibilities as well as the right has understood it (and practiced it) for decades.

The left needs to understand what is and isn't politically attainable. Obama gets blasted by some on the left as a sell-out. Fact is, he went as far left as he was able to go politically.

Agreed, and as the article points out, while some of his voting record over the past no longer passes progressive purity tests those votes were well within the Democratic party mainstream at the time that they were made. Even his "failure" to apologize to Anita Hill for not reigning in some of the questioning from members of his own party rings hollow and frankly is simple to remedy if it becomes an issue.

Concerns about Creepy Uncle Joe aside, I would vote for him if he is the eventual nominee.

Images of Creepy Uncle Joe will likely prompted images of Creepy Daddy/Uncle Donald, i.e., images of Trump fondling Ivanka's breasts and butt while hugging her, for example, as well as Trump at the Learning Annex grabbing the woman's breast who he called up on stage to join him. I imagine we will get to hear again about Trump ogling teenage beauty contestants backstage. And so on. Fun times ahead.

I think that the Left's constant bleating about the p grabbing open mic capture has inured the voting populace to things like that, but Biden's fascination with young girls, even if well intentioned, is more than a little unsettling.

images of Trump fondling Ivanka's breasts and butt while hugging her,

That happened? I'm going to have to Google that. If I find it I'm trying to decide whether I'll think it's funny or be creeped out by it.

Trump's fascination with sexualizing Ivanka even as a young teen is more than a little unsettling as well. Plenty of photos, audio and videos documenting that. To me that is one of the creepiest things about him.

Will the Epstein connection reveal anything really untoward about the Donald and teenage girls who remind him of his daughter? That is still an open question.

What I found was when she introduced him at the 2016 convention. It was more her hip than her butt, however it still wasn't a good look. In a vacuum it would seem pretty innocuous. Given some of the other things he's said about her, it certainly looked a bit gratuitous.

Google Donald Trump creepy daddy images. That's how I found the one I posted in #18 of him touching her breast while they are about to kiss/hug with their eyes closed. I really don' think that is normal.

A 40 year career is only a "burden" if you've spent it doing the wrong things. This article attempts to couch Biden's documented anti-consumer stance as something that just "happens" if you've been around long enough. It's a very dishonest take.

This isn't to say i won't vote for Biden if he's the eventual nominee, but there are many other primary candidates (even centrists) who would be more appealing to me.

Yep. Considering that, in america, anyone to the left of a hard-core nazi is considered a liberal, it was enough.

Ask any moderate (which includes almost all educated people), they will tell you where the correct action is, 'Fiscal conservative, Social Liberal.'

Joe Biden leads 2020 Democrats in millennial support, poll finds

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who is mulling a White House bid, leads declared and potential Democratic presidential candidates in support among millennial voters, according to a new poll of adults between the ages of 18 and 34.

The poll, organized by the University of Chicago's GenForward Survey Project, found that 21 percent of millennials back Biden over Democrats who have entered the crowded primary field, including Sens. Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren. Sanders, whose insurgent 2016 campaign was fueled by ardent support among young progressive voters, is a close second at 18 percent.

According to the poll, Biden also enjoys strong support among young minority voters. With support from 29 percent of Asian American millennials, 28 percent of African American millennials and 19 percent of millennial whites, the former Delaware senator led in all surveyed voting blocs -- except millennial Latinos. Twenty-six percent of Hispanics between the ages of 18 and 34 said they support Sanders. Among that group, Biden came in second with 19 percent support.

I don't think the right-wingers here actually see the Overton Window in action in Lee Atwater's famous Southern Strategy quote.

I don't think they see it on Voter ID either. Or on abortion rights. Or on school vouchers. Or on the Hobby Lobby decision.
