I support both bills. In Missouri. It would be more fun if they made flamethrowers mandatory, and GoPros.

I swear, politicians in these red states compete with each other for the honor of being the dumbest politician in America. This guy wins but how long will it be before some other half-wit out-does his stupidity. It does occur to me that what makes most right wing politicians popular is their ability to please the stupidest people, sometimes I think they understand it and use it as a tactic and, for others, I don't think they even realize that they are as stupid as their followers.

I'm opposed to this bill. There are better weapons.

MO republican wants to make owning an AR-15 a requirement

Hm, one wonders how much the NRA has kicked into his campaign coffers. This idiot is a 2019 Darwin Award nominee, so it would figure he's groveling to the gun lobby and idiots in his district.

The only thing AR-15's are good at are killing large numbers of people in a short amount of time. Like the military or mass shooters. Not hunting or self protection.

"This guy has a good idea."

This guy's idea is a handout.
But since it's a gun that's getting handed out, Boaz thinks handouts are good.

None in 2018 or 19. You can dig through the other four years. mec.mo.gov

Actually he claims that his real goal was to get a lot of media coverage so that he could focus on what he really wants and that's to get a tax credit for the cost purchasing a firearm used for personal protection. His argument is that taxpayer money is being used to pay for the police. Well, if the police can't protect you and you feel that you have to buy a gun to feel safe, that that should be covered by tax dollars as well.

I'm not saying I agree with his argument or his tactics, just that he's using this to get attention for something that he knows would sound like an idiot idea, but what he really wants will now sound not quite a waka-doodle. It's still crazy, just less so...

New Zealand: 1 mass shooting in 40 years, immediately moving forward with legislation banning semi-automatic weapons.
USA: mass shooting every week, doing nothing.

So it's ok to force people to buy something just so long as it isn't health insurance?

#18 | POSTED BY REDIAL

Of course. Hell... forcing people to buy health insurance was a Republican idea to begin with (liberals want government funded health insurance).

Republicans are nothing if not inconsistent in their "ideology".

We have "guns don't kill people, people kill people", unless the person got that gun because of Obama, then it is Obama's fault that the "gun killed someone" (Fast and Furious).

We have Republicans concerned about the "breakdown of the American family" and absolutely appalled by a Democratic president getting a ------- by someone not his wife, and then they elect a president who has been married three times (divorced twice) and that has cheated on all three of his wives.

I could go on and on...

I believe that Switzerland still has this requirement for every able bodied male. A military grade rifle in their home with 100 rounds of ammo. This proposal is nothing new, several state have had the requirement of having every home possess a firearm, especially in New England.

They don't. They used to give ammo to their militia but it was a in a sealed box and audited constantly.

In fact, they heavily regulate weapons and ammo. Carrying a gun in public is only for occupations such as security or hunting/special events like demonstrations.

All weapons are registered. All ammo purchases are registered. They must provided ID and a criminal record not less than 3 months old to obtain ammo.

Any more lies to post today?

#21 Cool, let's adopt Switzerland's gun laws alongside their healthcare laws (an aggressive form of Obamacare), their social security system (4.2% tax on all earnings, mandatory employer pension contributions), their family allowance program, ther maternity leave policy...

Oh wait, you only want some fake version of their gun law?

"The United States has approximately 1.3 million active-duty troops, with another 865,000 in reserve"

With over 2 million armed, trained forces, no need for militias in this day and age. And thus no need for private citizens to have assault weapons designed for the military, the weapons of choice for mass shooters. We're covered.

#22 | POSTED BY SYCOPHANT AT 2019-03-18 01:34 PM | FLAG:

Shooting ranges in Switzerland are unique in Europe, in keeping with the strong shooting traditions and liberal gun laws that exist in Switzerland.

The sale of ammunition -- limited to Swiss ordonnance calibers, but including Gw Pat 90 rounds for army-issue assault rifles -- is subsidized by the Swiss government and made available at the many shooting ranges patronized by both private citizens and members of the militia. There is a regulatory requirement that ammunition sold at ranges must be used there. Indeed, while the sale of all ammunition is registered at the dealer if purchased at a private store, ammunition purchased at a shooting range is not.

No permit is needed for an individual to transport a unloaded firearm to or from a shooting range, to or from an arms dealer, to or from an armory or to or from a private weapon purchase with a purchase permit (Waffenerwerbsschein).[1] To carry firearms in public or outdoors, a person must have a Waffentragschein[2] (weapon carrying permit), which in most cases is issued only to private citizens working in occupations such as security.

Why yes! Brilliant! Everyone should own and open carry and not let this deadly weapon stay home wasting away in a gun locker... so we can all get used to it.

So...Eventually it will be Normal?

Nice plan. Now go frack yourselves with it and your AK-47s. Seriously? I am having enough trouble with accepting active shooter drills in our schools.

And this is the kind of frickin sicko world you NRA-freaks are dreaming of?

We are doomed.

I find it hard to believe someone that was in the Marines would be so afraid of weapons. Never met one when I was in. Never encountered one that turned in to a sheep when they got out. First for everything donnerboy.

#29 | Posted by donnerboy, Hell when I was young, we used to go to the range for fun. It was fun plinking cans on a creek bank. After having to go to the range for 30 years and qualifying twice a year, it was no longer fun. Yep, you and your ilk are doomed if you want to get into a civil war. Remember the video of the John Brown gun club? Now that was funny.
