Beto O'Rourke said Friday that America's capitalist economy is "racist," while he praised a proposal to give infants so-called baby bonds to address systemic inequalities.

"It won't be government intervention or policy alone that makes it possible," he said.

However, O'Rourke added at a coffee shop here, "Having said that, it is clearly an imperfect, unfair, unjust and racist capitalist economy."

On Friday, O'Rourke lamented "the disparity in wealth accumulation between white America and black America" and spoke favorably about a proposal to give infants a "baby bond" of hundreds of thousands of dollars at birth -- an idea Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) has embraced.

"This idea of a baby bond, where there's an investment made in every single American depending on their means, will not solve every problem in disparity in wealth and income and opportunity in this country," O'Rourke said. "But it could go a long way to ensuring that there's a little bit more fairness in this country.""

Everyone could be a Trust Fund Baby like Mackris!

Prolly born on first base, though, not third. At least they'd be in the game.

A capitalist economy is like poker in that if I come to the game with a million dollars and everyone else has 100 dollars, I'm always, always going to win. The money will naturally flow upwards in any capitalist economy.

Our crony capitalist economy is like a game of poker where I have a million dollars, I get to write new rules depending on the hand I have, and you borrowed your original stake from me and have to pay it back at yuge interest rates after you lose.

Surprised to read this isn't a new idea by Booker or Beto:

2008 presidential primary:
"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18, if they have finished high school, they will be able to access it to go to college, or maybe they will be able to make that down payment on their first home," Clinton said at the time.

I wonder why HRC didn't bring that policy back in 2016? That is a type of pro-birth policy that I'm interested in seeing the US adopt.

Well duh.

"You ever get a job from a poor person?" is a Capitalist rallying cry.

On average, black household have about 6% the net worth of white households in America.

And just how do African Americans feel about that?

In 2012 Americans went to the polls to re-elect President Obama (only the 4th president since the First World War to be elected and then re-elected with a majority of the votes cast).

In that election:

93% of African American voters voted for the Democratic candidate;

70% of Hispanic voters voted for the Democratic candidate; and,

73% of Asian American voters voted for the Democratic candidate.

Looks like African Americans don't agree with Andre a Mattress.

Political Football:
"A political football is a topic or issue that is seized on by opposing political parties or factions and made a more political issue than it might initially seem to be."

Political:
"relating to the government or the public affairs of a country."

The wealth of families is highly relevant to the public affairs of a country.

Creating generational welfare families, good or bad?

Putting poor into "projects"? Good or bad?

Destruction of the black family due to "war on poverty"? Good or bad?

Allowing unmitigated illegal low skilled immigration for decades, hurt or help the poor?

If you really cared you'd see the cause, instead you want to blame racism. Like I said you don't really care.

Here's Betos fallacy.

If capitalism is greedy, then it isn't racist. If it's racist it isn't greedy.

Pick one.

Not even close to true but they are an opportunity for you to try and break the coalition between those who have been harmed and those who want to help them gain the wealth they deserve. You certainly aren't going to do that are you? The wealthy has enjoyed cheap labor from black people for generations and sees nothing wrong with that. And, they are too clueless to even understand why that is wrong. Democrats aren't perfect but, at least we recognize that fairness is a goal we need to strive to achieve, Republicans don't even want to try because then they might have to pay their maid higher wages. $15.00 minimum wage! Right now! For everyone. Think about that. A rich ------------ in Georgia with gardeners, maids, etc. would have to pay his help $15.00 per hour.....it's simply scandalous. How dare these people demand so much money?
Repeal Taft Hartley! Then we can begin to fix this backwards nation.

#12 | POSTED BY ANDIMACKERELASS AT 2019-03-15 11:58 PM | REPLY | NONSENSE

First of all you support a president who even though born in this country can't extemporaneously speak in complete sentences using his native language.

Second... you really need to let go of the "low skilled" nonsense. There is no such thing. There is work and there is hard work... after that there is harder work still. The "low skilled" work is often the most tedious and yet the economy depends on it. So skru-u and that orange pig you support.

Your white boys are killing themselves in record numbers because of you and your ilk. You want them to take those "low skilled" meaningless jobs than are currently done by those you call a "drag on the economy"...rather than the immigrants... you want them to do jobs that are currently being done by people you hate... at wages that won't lift them from poverty.

They are telling you to go to hell... they would rather die. They are putting the gun to their heads and you are pulling the trigger.

You know its true.

Trumplethinskin is leaving office in disgrace and he owes it to thoughtless ------- like you... because his disgrace is mostly yours.

But Democrats are trying to CHANGE it. Republicans are block the changes.

It is like when Romney was running for president. He was being raked over the coals about how little taxes he paid. But the actual rate that he paid is not what I had a problem with. I also pay as little in taxes as legally possible, and I don't expect rich people to pay more than they have to. What I did have a problem with is that he paid such an unfairly low tax rate AND THEN LOBBIED TO KEEP THAT TAX RATE. Bain Capital spent money to lobby Congress to KEEP the "carried interest" loophole.

That is the difference. Republicans try to influence government to enhance the unfairness (in their favor). Democrats see the unfairness and attempt influence government policy to reverse it.

We all get the benefits of cheap labor, and illegal labor, and companies not paying a living wage. But, even if it might provide financial benefits to me (because my salary is not tied to minumum wage but I get goods at reduced prices) I know that it is bad for the country so I support the party that tries to change it because that is what benefits the country overall. You, on the other hand, are ALSO getting these benefits (assuming your income is not tied to minimum wage) but YOU are doing everything you can to ensure government policy benefits YOU rather than what is best for the country as a whole.

"Creating generational welfare families, good or bad?"

So black families aren't poor because they're lazy and make bad decisions?

"Destruction of the black family due to "war on poverty"? Good or bad?"

So black families didn't destruct because black women and black men make poor reproductive choices? Don't blacks have a higher abortion rate?

"Allowing unmitigated illegal low skilled immigration for decades, hurt or help the poor?"

The premise is false, as is the conjecture. We don't allow unmitigated illegal immigratiom. Nor is immigration policies intended to help the poor in the first place, it's intended to serve "job creators.'

America's Capitalists depended on slavery, indentured servitude and tens of millions of impoverished immigrants to accumulate vast fortunes. They worried more about slave insurrections, runaways, and death than any of the rest, because they only bought slaves and hated to lose money. Horses and cattle were more important than impoverished immigrants, for the same reason.
