"he nevertheless voted with Republicans 167 times in six years"

"On a policy level, he's one of the most conservative Democrats in the field. He doesn't concretely support Medicare for All, except in some "it would be great, eventually!" sense. He voted against free public college. He makes vague noises about liking the Green New Deal without signing on. He gets money from oil and gas executives, and thus he won't take a hard position against fossil fuels. He folded on the Israel Iron Dome question under the slightest pressure, he voted to let Obama negotiate the Trans-Pacific Partnership (which cost him the AFL-CIO endorsement in his race against Cruz), and the sheer amount of awful Republican bills he's supported is enough to fill an entire article."

Another neo-liberal conservative Dem that can make a good speech that says nothing oh goody.

I am not feeling the Beto

If he can't beat Ted Cruz, he definitely can't beat trump. He'll be this election's Jill Stein -- a spoiler.

#1> I agree. His people are a very well-to-do family from back east somewhere. His father was a judge. He was educated at some posh all male finishing school in Virginia then followed up with college at Columbia. The boomers like him because he's so Kennedy-esque and more controllable. His resemblance to Bobby Kennedy is phenomenal. But I really think he's just a "pretty boy" that everyone's enamored with, and at his point in U S history, America needs a strong candidate that's much more substantial on what needs to be done and I really don't think he has what it takes.

With all that said,if he does gets the nomination I will definitely vote for him against Trump. I would prefer the Democratic "muddling onward" to the Trump chaos.

I love how he changed his name from white boy sounding Robert to ethnic sounding Beto to fit in Texas.

His dad did that when he was really young.

"Boat shoes Beto"

Read that on a Bernie sanders supporting meme page, but, I mean, boat shoes are great casual shoes. Not much of a dig.

But you are scared.
Scared of immigrants.
Scared of Muslims.
Scared our White Western Way of Life is under attack by immigrants and Muslims.
And scared of the politicians who don't share that view.

"Why do you think he's rooting for Beto and Harris."

The same reason he rooted for Bernie the last time--to stir up controversy and to try to help divide Democrats.

"The same reason he rooted for Bernie the last time--to stir up controversy and to try to help divide Democrats."

Appears to be the sum of this dirtbag's entire existence.

Get a life, Mackris.

Trump is the candidate for morons who couldn't spell 'vapid' without a computer or smart phone to do it.

5 - Yet there's all kinds of documentation where he signed his name As an adult as Robert.

That must've been before he was running for an office where he needed to be politically correct sounding

Beto Harris 2020, I promise.

Do you really think i believe I can change the vote of Democrats?

No I sense what you will chose, it's obvious.

The same reason he rooted for Bernie the last time.

I actually believed in Bernie, until he changed his stance on illegal immigration.

I don't think Beto O'Rourke is quite ready for the bigtime yet. But it probably wouldn't take long.

I want to vote for Joe Biden but only if he has O'Rourke on the bottom of his ticket because Joe's age will preclude him from re-election in 2024. O'Rourke needs to be introduced to the pits and perils of foreign policy first as a Vice President with real responsibilities, like Biden had when he was VP for Obama.

There's just too much damage to undo to trust the next three administrations to any more Republicans. Maybe they'll get better after the old guard dies out but history says . . . probably not.

BTW, there's some speculation being floated around DC circles that Trump should dump Pence and pick up Nikki Haley as his VP for the 2020 election. Trump could certainly use the help but I'm not sure he could tolerate being overshadowed by his VP.

File this under Wait-and-See.

#23 | Posted by AndreaMackris

Really? Setting aside the issue of illegal immigration, what policies of Bernie's do you agree with? Taxing the wealthy, M4A, $15/hr min wage, free college tuition?

Haley is one of the very few who, apparently, escaped Trump "employment" with a somewhat intact integrity.

I'm not sure she would willingly suffer the fate of VP Pence.

So, yeah Twinpac: Wait-and-See.

HANS

An insider from the Trump administration let it slip (leak?) that Trump wants a woman on his 2020 ticket to swing female voters his direction. Nikki Haley was only mentioned as the obvious choice. The name of Hope Hicks was casually thrown about as well.

#29 | Posted by Twinpac at 2019-03-17 11:44 AM | Reply

Haley would be stupid to take the VP position unless she is convinced that, should they win, Trump would be impeached and convicted before the end of his second term.

How would Pence feel about being kicked off the ticket? He probably has some interesting stories he could tell about Trump behind the scenes. If Pence himself wouldn't be angry enough to expose what he knows, his wife just might be.

#30 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2019-03-17 11:50 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

All good point, GAL.

As for Haley, she's no fool but she is ambitious. Who knows what promises (2024?) Trump would use to string her along.

As for Pence, I imagine he'd feel the same way as Cory Lewandowski felt. Lewandowski took his kick in the butt with aplomb . . . for the good of the team, so to speak, once he understood Manafort's REAL job. Just as Pence understands quite well how the trend is leaning toward women.

Personally, my money's on Robert Mueller and the SDNY's RICO (Trump, Inc) charges shutting down the whole kit & caboodle before it gets much further along on the path to a dictatorship.
