(Reuters) by Keith Coffman - A Kentucky teenager sued CNN on Tuesday for defamation, saying the cable network falsely conveyed to viewers that he was the "face of an unruly hate mob" confronting a Native American activist at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington in January.

CNN's defense will request summary judgement because the notion this kid was defamed is laughable.

Such a stupid, frivolous, lawsuit. I'm sure the Ritghies here will decry it as such any minute.

Can you say witch hunt????

This is clearly a Nothingburger and a frivolous lawsuit.

His parents deserve a swift kick to their reproductive parts for raising such a racist POS punk!

He was there to take women's rights away.

Comment is accurate.

They are probably like him. That kind of hate is taught close to home.

The kid literally said and did nothing, yet he's somehow a racist POS punk.

This is precisely why he's suing for defamation.

CNN and WaPo will settle. Then they'll go after the smaller fish, like the drunkard who assaulted the kid and his tribe who racially abused all the kids.

#6 & #7 As I understand it, the only snag might be that Sandmann is declared a "Limited-Purpose Public Figure," but I think that definition is problematic in this case because the kid didn't place himself in the public sphere, but was rather thrust there by bad actors in the media.

Another strange aspect to the story (from TMN): "Adding another strange layer to the story, the Twitter account that shared the first video to 40,000 followers has been suspended after CNN Business revealed that its user, who claimed to be a California school teacher, was actually a blogger in Brazil using a stock photo." So it would seem that the edited footage was "weaponized" by another bad actor targeting gullible mush-brains.

AIUI, the photo belonged to a blogger in Brazil who said her photo was used without permission. Nobody knows which country the Twitter account was posted from, although we can guess...

#11, you can't stop obsessing over those hats, can you? Hopefully none of your relatives will ever be portrayed as the aggressors after being molested by some creeper trying to beat off in their faces, regardless of what they're wearing or what political views they might have.
