The standards specify concentrations of pollutants known to have human health effects, including cancer-causing chemicals, allowed in rivers and streams. For the majority of the standards, less pollution would have been allowed in West Virginia waterways. But in November, the West Virginia Manufacturers Association asked the joint rule-making review committee not to implement the standards. They argue that the EPA encourages states to incorporate state-specific science, and that because West Virginians are heavier, their bodies can handle more pollutants, and that because they drink less water, they are less exposed to the pollutants. They have commissioned a worker to gather that state-specific information.

The experiment of West Virginia as a State? Failed.

There was a serious investigation into giving West Virginia a National Park. It doesn't have one. The land identified was gorgeous.

If memory serves, a US Senator from WV killed it because you can't mine coal in national parks.

It's what freedom tastes like.

And since they are heavier and don't drink much water...

Seriously??? This kind of nonsense is outright criminal.

How much heavier are children in West Virginia?

They use wheelbarrows in the delivery rooms of their hospitals.

Give the people what they want.

The problem is that pollution in the river doesn't stop at the state line and is why federal laws are needed.

One sat on a quarter and a booger came out of Washington's nose.

Their blood type is gravy.

The back of their necks look like an 8 pack of hotdogs.

All of you need to mind your business. That's why we have autonomous states. Dont like it? Dont come here. Those people used the democratic process to elect who they wanted.

They obviously didnt want you or who you would have voted for.

You're right, Boaz. If a bunch of stupid Trumpers want to poison themselves and their offspring, fine by me. You should join them.

The issue, as Nixon stated, is that pollution doesn't stop at the state line. If you truly believed in states' rights, you'd believe in their neighboring states' rights to be free from pollution they didn't agree to.

If a state doesn't like it's neighbor it should move.

#12 as usual you're highly selective in your "they voted for what they wanted" argument. When liberal policies are enacted you endlessly caterwaul about libruls ruining your state and they should stop supplanting the will of the people.

State's rights is just a cliche for you.

West Virginia is a Failed State.

West Virginia gets more money per person from federal government programs (my federal taxes) than any other state in the country.

How much federal money does the state take? Do you even know?

West Virginia is dependent on federal taxpayer dollars to survive.

If they take my money they have to listen sorry Bozo.

Don't like it?

Move to a state that pays its way.

Like California. They don't have to listen to idiots. Like you.

#16,

I've already dispelled the myth of how much southern states get in federal aid as compared to liberal states. I dont have time to educate you about your dumb ass talking point.

#18 Willful ignorance and cherrypicking which aid counts is not "dispelling the myth".

When it comes to the whole red-states receive more federal money meme I think it's important to strip any contract work or military work out of the equation. Contractors are providing a service to the government. They are working for the money they receive. Military is part of the government. Military money flowing into Ohio should receive the same regard as funding for the Cincinnati IRS office. Farm subsidies should count. As should safety net dollars like SNAP and Welfare. Medicare and SS payments should not count.

But they get to work in the Mines. And dig that Beautiful Clean Coal. For the rest of their lives. If they are lucky.

Unless they are smart enough to realize there is a whole Universe of possible futures out there.

#21 It's not a "meme," and California gets more military money than anyone and still manages to be a net payer to the federal government. Virginia is 2nd in military spending; they are a net payer to the federal government.

The ------- states like Alabama and West Virginia are nowhere near the top in military spending, so that isn't the reason they are net takers. They are net takers because they refuse to adequately tax and take care of their citizens and infrastructure.
