Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 13, 2019

A chummy discussion between Vice President Mike Pence and former vice president Dick Cheney quickly turned into a vigorous back-and-forth over President Donald Trump's foreign policy at a private gathering on Saturday, with Cheney comparing the president's instincts to those of his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama. At the closed-door retreat hosted by the American Enterprise Institute on March 9 in Sea Island, Georgia, Cheney respectfully but repeatedly and firmly pressed Pence on a number of the president's foreign policy moves, from taking a harder line toward U.S. allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to deciding to withdraw troops from Syria "in the middle of a phone call."

It's a strange world indeed when Dick Cheney and the DR Left agree on Donnie Little Hands approach to foreign policy.

@#1

Maybe the two you cite are each concerned about the future of the Country, and not the possibility of developing hotels in foreign capitals.

All country needs is for Cheney to goad Trump into starting a war somewhere to prove he isn't Barrack Obama.

US foreign policy is joined at the hip by both parties. The policies and actions are evil incarnate. Nevertheless, Cheney is correct that such policy must not be changed from day to day on one man's whim. That is very stupid and dangerous.

#6 it's the only spin. It's always newsworthy when someone "on the same side" raises an objection. It's far more newsworthy then anyone "on the same side" agreeing with them.

Most try to kill discussion by playing the partisan card. I appreciate you didn't. "Fake lawyer" and all.

Most of the major neocons: Cheney, Bill Kristol, Max Boot, Robert Kagan quietly supported Hillary Clinton. She was, and is, one of them. Bill Kristol even ran a 3rd party candidate to throw the election to Clinton.

@#9 ... Most of the major neocons: Cheney, Bill Kristol, Max Boot, Robert Kagan quietly supported Hillary Clinton. ...

Less because "she was one of them," and more because they put Country over Party. Quite unlike the spineless Republicans we now have in Congress.

Dick Cheney heaps praise on Hillary Clinton

Former US vice president Dick Cheney has praised Hillary Clinton as one of the more competent members of President Barack Obama's administration, saying it would be "interesting to speculate" on how she would perform as president.

So? He still didn't vote for her.

Damning with faint praise? ;)

Considering that she will never run for or hold any office ever again I don't concern myself with what she is.

@#17 ... So? ...

Hardly, as you said, "Dick Cheney heaps praise on Hillary Clinton"

You're just skating farther out on the thin ice as you continue the attempts to avoid facing reality of Republicans putting Party over Country.

You're now at the point of contradicting yourself.

Cheney is a dangerous man. One reason he is dangerous is that he is very smart, and knows the world, and looks at it with a jaundiced eye. He has the sort of governmental and business experience that no one in the present administration has, which allows him to call out Pence for what our VP is--a religious zealot far, far out of his depth.

Meanwhile, GOP Senators are frozen between the Republican establishment and their fealty to Trump, afraid that they are backing a criminal, and also afraid they may get primaried in 2020. Now, GOPers, is the time for some political courage. If your voters back home like you, don't be afraid of some kook that may come along. If you don't like where the head of your party is leading you, say so, and say it loud...
