The Trump administration is headed for a budget clash with Congress, with calls for deep domestic spending cuts that lawmakers are likely to ignore as the nation's debt reaches record levels.

~50% increase in defense spending coupled with attempt to circumvent Congress = DOTUS and friends slush fund to profit from while everyone suffers.

"The White House will release the president's budget Monday, along with its assumptions about how the economy will evolve under the administration's proposed policies. The forecasts will show GDP reaching 3.2 percent this year compared to last year and 3.1 percent in 2020, according to a copy of the projections obtained by CNBC. Growth will then level off at 3 percent through 2024, according to the projections.

Those estimates are markedly higher than independent outside projections.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office forecast growth this year at 2.7 percent, followed by a significant dropoff next year to 1.9 percent as the boost from the new tax law peters out.

After that, the CBO predicts growth will hover between 1.6 and 1.8 percent through 2029. The Federal Reserve predicts long-run growth at about 2 percent."

Repube budgets are always Magic Growth miracles... see how the yuge tax cuts for corps and 1 percenters is already dicking, er, petering out. And the corp ones are permanent.

More abject Trickle Down Failure.

This is Trump doubling down on stupid with cuts he knows won't pass because they haven't the last two years and a Wall that he was just defeated on in which even Republican border Govs oppose him.

At this point he is only talking because he loves to hear the sound of his own voice.

Do not forget that three of obama's proposed budget got practically not votes from either the dems of Republicans. Just one of the ongoing games our elected officials [on both sides play in their approx 111 days a year of 'work' a year.

RIGHT/TRITE

There's a definition of insanity in Trump's demands. "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result" ~ (LOL, as if everybody on 7 continents didn't already know.)

As usual, the demand for 8.6 billion is probably a front for one of Trump's ulterior motives. Without support from his own party in Congress Trump's ego-wall is DOA ~ and the Repubs aren't likely to commit political suicide by cutting life-saving social programs for their own constituents.

STUCK ON STUPID:

Obviously Trump wants another war with the House after being humiliated by Nancy Pelosi the first time. He isn't accustomed to being told "no" by anybody, especially a woman, so like always, REVENGE! must be a top priority and neither Trump nor his base can move on without it.

#7 | Posted by Twinpac at 2019-03-12 07:21 AM | Reply

"I'll pay off the debt in 8 years."

"Mexico will pay for the wall"

"I will not cut medicare or medicaid"

And here we are. Fat Nixon is asking to get publicly humiliated by Nancy Pelosi or as he calls her "Nancy" for a second time.

Difference: More than *twice as much* added to the national debt over 10 years.

That's the pay for itself magic of the GOP Tax Scam.

Actually, I was rather surprised to see this wall money come up again in Trump's budget proposal.

What happened to fast tracking the "national emergency" game plan?

Or did Trump get the message-of-doom from Chief Justice Roberts?

The wall is already being built

I will shut down the government if America doesn't pay for the wall

Hey can i have $8,600,000,000.00 for the wall

That new wall had better have a lot of revolving doors installed, for all the guest workers needed to hit the projections of 3% annual growth from here until rapture. Beside being ridiculous, the thought of sustained growth of 3% without additions to the workforce is mind-boggling.

When again will Trump start hiring the best people? None of them worked on his budget proposal...

If Trump is inviting a new fight over the wall (a hopless cause) it's because he needs the distraction to cover some dirty dealings he has going on elewhere that he doesn't want the media to notice.

Either that or he got the message-of-doom from Chief Justice Roberts and now he's sweating bullets.

BTW, what happened to fast tracking the 'national emergency?' Huh? Huh?

From your link:

"The migrants simply walked through the Colorado River vehicle barriers near Yuma, Arizona, and surrendered to agents, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection."

Part of the 2017/2018 budget allocated for border security was set aside specifically for improving vehicle barrier crossings which included the crossing near Yuma, AZ.

Yet the money is still sitting there all this time, unused and with no plan. You might want to ask yourself why?

NULL

Could it possibly be because Trump doesn't really give a damn about immigration or building a wall?

Could it be that the "wall" still has too much value as "vote bait" (in 2020) which is all it ever was from the beginning?

Did you know that only 6% of the border security funds allocated by Ways and Means has ever been tapped? Why do you suppose that is?

#29 | Posted by Twinpac at 2019-03-12 06:00 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

NULL

Could it be that Trump sees the "wall" as his golden brick road to re-election just as it was to his election in 2016?

Could it be that the "wall" is the the only way he can hold his base together with scare tactics about terrorists, gangs like M-13, murder stats, diseases, drain on social services and the like?

Could it be that without the "wall" Trump has no adhesive to hold his campaign rallies together for 2020?
