Infectious diseases -- some that ravaged populations in the Middle Ages -- are resurging in California and around the country, and are hitting homeless populations especially hard. Los Angeles recently experienced an outbreak of typhus -- a disease spread by infected fleas on rats and other animals -- in downtown streets. Officials briefly closed part of City Hall after reporting that rodents had invaded the building.

""I worry about all those diseases," said Millar, 43, who has been homeless most of her life. Infectious diseases -- some that ravaged populations in the Middle Ages -- are resurging in California and around the country, and are hitting homeless populations especially hard."

I always wondered why the Litards were always screaming for mama. I just thought it was Snoofy calling his mother to bring his hot pockets down to the basement. But, now it all makes sense. Why is it that the places with the most liberal policies and voting records also are the ones with the most crushing poverty and wealth inequality. If one did not understand socialism better, it would almost seem like this was your goal from the system.

Yap, and I get it.

I'm sure it isn't fun being reminded of the 3rd world -------- that we live in and that you like to pretend doesn't exist.

Banner's headline follows good journalistic practice. It tells you who, what and where. Douchegood's headlines are always idiotic clickbait, every time.

California's population has doubled during my lifetime. It's become a sh--hole, and it's a real tragedy.

I've been looking around, but strangely I can't find any mention of typhus is modern countries.

Unless you grew up in California, you don't know how much we have lost. I've had fantastic times hiking, climbing, beach-combing, camping, and tree-hugging, but the cities are a dirty, congested disaster.

Corky, one of those white liberals that loves diversity for the country but seeks to avoid it themselves at all cost by choosing to live in a city that is 95% white.

Growth, growth, and more growth?
That's great for the economy.
Thanks, Capitalism!

Or maybe he just lives where he lives,,, you know,,, like people do.

I try to think of things from the point of view of others, to put myself in their shoes, and if I was either 12 years old or mildly retarded like you are something that idiotic might occur to me as well.

California traffic jams are epic, but that trend plagues most coastal regions in this country and many inland regions. Nothing makes the millions of capitalists happier than this unsustainable growth because they do not commute or work. But there can be no happy ending to unsustainable growth which could end with not enough water for farming, an antibiotic resistant disease, human caused global warming, nuclear war or collapse of the dollar.

As bad as its getting in California, its nothing compared to Asia.

Capitalism has two certain consistent outcomes which can be corrected for with socialist policy. INFLATION that has driven the cost of postage in our lifetimes for a first class stamp from 3¢ to 55¢ which isn't as painful as the cost of housing or rising DEBT PEONAGE.

Of course the human tendency of men to love women and women to love children, over time, becomes a greater obstacle to improving the quality of our lives than capitalism. But whether you're talking about conquered Iraqis or one child parents in China, NO ONE RESPONDS WELL TO COERCION. That is why free education for every citizen is so important. The best predictor of lower birth rates is better education for women, a policy devoid of coercion.

The major obstacle to such a policy is Capitalists who depend on an ever increasing population of workers to exploit in the job market and consumer the production they own. The fundamental problem is the planet may be big, but it is not infinite.

The TV sells the "California Dream" of Ken & Barbie. Not the reality. Even if you live in your overpriced overtaxed cocoon you are still affected. I miss the real California every FN day.

and the 80s & 90s music scene. That time period will never be duplicated. I miss rocker chicks. I miss you all. Listening to Lil Wayne and whatever other vomit is out there now is simply comical.
