In the Far East of Russia, a lack of snow has caused early wildfires which engulfed the path of the Trans-Siberian railway north of Vladivostok, the port city which is the end point of the line. Since the beginning of 2019, wildfires have affected more than 212,000 hectares of land in Russia, 77,000 of which are forest.
