Federal prosecutors have charged an analyst with the Internal Revenue Service with illegally disclosing confidential reports about Michael Cohen's bank records that revealed that President Donald Trump's former lawyer had sought to profit from his proximity to the White House, according to a complaint unsealed on Thursday.

My current working model for viewing Trump Org and citizen Donald Trump's transition to the Oval Office and Pres Trump's actions therein do not reflect one of an honest person working within the constraints of our laws and Constitution.

Instead my current working model of Pres Trump is one of a mid-level mob boss who demands loyalty to him, over and above everything else. That model seems to explain so much of what I see happening in the White House.

Pres Trump's obsequiousness towards pres Putin? Pres Putin is the top mob-boss, the one above Pres trump.

Pres Trump's view that those who accept indictment instead of a plea deal are strong, and those who take the plea deal are weak? That's out of Mob 101.

Did Pres trump bring to the Washington DC the tactics he found so useful in NYC?

Instead of draining the Washington DC swamp, did Pres trump memrely replace the Washington DC swamp with the NYC swamp?

So why is anyone surprised that someone from citizen Trump's NYC swamp wants to be a player in Pres trump's new Washington DC swamp?

Safeguarding taxpayer's information is paramount for anyone working for the IRS.

He should be charged and prosecuted.

Here's the thing, someone in the IRS leaked to Pro Publica some of the non-profit groups (one of which opposed gay marriage) that Romney contributed to. That was supposed to be every bit as protected as what was leaked about Cohen. Nobody paid any kind of price for that and the MSM was silent about the illegal disclosure but "pounced" on the contribution to an anti-gay marriage non-profit.

I'm glad to see this leaker is being prosecuted.

This leaking is from Trump's IRS, am I right?

This was leaked by a deep stater. We need to bring back political patronage so the incoming administration has their own people working for it. The current system has only the illusion of a non-political civil service. In reality the civil service is exclusively loyal to its own interests and those of the Democrat party.

Yeah, I'm sure you wouldn't change your mind when a Democrat gets elected President. Perhaps the most idiotic post I have ever read.

Pounced? No they reported. If you can't make a case that they were responsible for the leak you have nothing to complain about. If the MSM was informed about things about a Presidential candidate it was their responsibility to report it.

Since the civil service already is completely loyal to itself and the Democrat party, it wouldn't be any different when a Democrat wins the presidency.

Not sure how any Dem can come on here riding their soap box when it wasn't too long ago that there was a huge conspiracy discovered that Dems were illegally targeting Reps IRS dealings. Both sides suck.

If he is guilty he should spend 30 years in jail.

It wasn't "some of the non-profit groups that Romney donated to." It was one specific group and Romney happened to be one of the donors on the list. That "someone" who disclosed the information is a low level clerk from Utah named Wendy Peters. The Treasury Inspector General found the disclosure to be inadvertent. A federal court also found no "willfulness or gross negligence" in that case. And the chairman of the National Organization of Marriage, the group who's forms were disclosed, publicly stated that the organization has no reason to think the disclosure was deliberate.
