"Putin reportedly said Wednesday that there are too many people within the U.S. "ruling class" who are "too captivated by ideas of their exceptionalism and their superiority over the entire rest of the world."

"But do they know how to count? Surely they do," Putin added, according to the Times. "Let them first calculate the range and speed of our advanced weapons systems, and then make decisions on the threats against our country."

Putin then claimed there is a "deep state" working against the president, the Times reported.

His comment falls in line with some supporters of Trump who have claimed that there is a "deep state" conspiracy within the government aimed at undermining Trump and his administration."

Wow... Putin does post here after all!

"too captivated by ideas of their exceptionalism and their superiority"

So, wait.... Trump IS the Deep State? That sounds just like him. "I'm brilliant and beautiful and I'm yuuge!"

This is where Putin knows how to play Shart of the Deal.

Flatter him.

Tell him what he wants to hear.

Fat Nixon is a threat to America.

Crackis wants to talk about an actor who filed a false police report.

Very telling comrade.

... Putin added, according to the Times. "Let them first calculate the range and speed of our advanced weapons systems, and then make decisions on the threats against our country." ...

Pres Putin's poll ratings in Russia have been declining, and some say he is using saber-rattling tactics to boost his ratings.

For example:

Opinion: Putin's empty promises
www.dw.com

...In his annual speech, Russia's Vladimir Putin tried to fight sinking political popularity with often heard promises. But these are shattered by a reality that he has been responsible for, says DW's Ingo Mannteufel.

Fifteen years is not a special anniversary. But when a head of state gives his annual speech on the state of the nation for the 15th time, the event almost has the character of a small jubilee. It also has something of a boring routine about it, though. This must have been the case for Russian President Vladimir Putin in his speech to the Russian Federal Assembly: Putin reeled off his speech like a seasoned pro, but without great enthusiasm.

Unlike last time, he could not inspire the audience with exciting computer simulations about the latest Russian miracle weapons. Russia's political, economic and religious elite sat through their president's speech stoically, clapping routinely in all the right places throughout the 90-minute speech.

Putin's promises and the bitter reality

As has often been the case in Putin's speeches, the core message was a promise that the social and economic situation of the people will be improved. Putin played the well-known role of Russia's caring father: an increase in social benefits here, new financial relief there.

But after many years of economic stagnation and declining real incomes, the new social promises will not improve the mood in the country. Even the state-controlled opinion research institute WZIOM noted in January that trust in Putin has been falling: Only around one third of all Russians still trust him -- a historic low not reached since 2005. ....

I'm sure that the alignment of DR righties and Putin's talking points is simply a coinkidence.

Sure.

So sure.

Sounds like attempt to preemptively discredit the Mueller report (if the final report really is coming next week...).

The "deep state" mantra is a cover for Trump, just like his projections whenever he's accused or something. I must say, as worthless as Trump is as an actual leader, he and his team are very good at propaganda.

McCabe was plotting with the FBI to subvert an elected government official. He said it himself. You Russian fauxllusion experts would lose your minds if you had a primary source for anything you've lapped up for the last two years.

McCabe and the FBI were doing their patriotic duty to investigate what appeared even at that early time, and is even more obvious now, that Trump behaved as if Putin had him by the short hairs.

To do otherwise would have been a dereliction of their duty. So there may be a few like Elliot Richardson in this gov; more loyal to their country than to their Dear Leader.

What he actually said, and how you seem to have completely misinterpreted (intentionally or otherwise) what he said, is quite interesting.

Not really surprising, but interesting nonetheless.

Let's not pretend having invading troops in 80 other countries, as we do at this moment, is hokum. It seems the deep State in the USA is determined to continue war, one way or the other. For that an evil enemy is vital.
