Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, February 21, 2019

President Trump on Wednesday took direct aim at The New York Times, calling the news organization a "true ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE," in an escalation from his previous lashings which were typically addressed to a group of news organizations or over specific Times articles. Mr. Trump does not cite a specific article, but his blunt declaration comes a day after The Times published a report describing how he has tried to influence and undermine investigations surrounding him, his presidential campaign and his administration.

Read Ibsen's play "Enemy of the People" and you'll realize that it's the good guys who are called that. And it is the ignorant and violent, the Trumpers, who call them that.

... calling the news organization a "true ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE," ...

Wrong, so very wrong.

On so many levels.

This is the proclamation of an autocrat, not a declaration from the Office of the President of the Untied States.

Wrong. So very wrong.

Oh so very wrong.

Just wrong.

NYT is a purveyor of fake news. Frankly, I wish it wasn't. We need to come together as a country and instead, we have leftist media making up and promoting false stories to divide us, because - at the end of the day - burning the country to the ground is a small price to pay for the Dems regaining power.

@#7

If I were to use the definition of "fake news" that Pres Trump uses, I would have to disagree with you.

Strongly.

Based upon what I have seen, Pres Trump doles out the "fake news" appellation to anything which does not portray him in a positive light.

To me, that is what Pres Trump has reduced the "fake news" tag to. Pres Trump does not like it, therefore it is fake news. Sorry, but that's too low of a ar for the "fake news" admonition.

... promoting false stories to divide us, ...

OK, let's discuss all those false stories that the NY Times has published for the purpose of dividing us.

To quote Frasier... I'm listening.

... at the end of the day - burning the country to the ground is a small price to pay for the Dems regaining power. ...

OK, there you made your huge mistake. You try to attribute to your opponent that which you are trying to do.

Oops.

You really need to up your game here. You are way too obvious in your goals.

And, by the way, you did not meet your goals tonight. :(

I wish you weren't so ------- awkward bud.

Those aren't Fake News. Most were controversies that came from accurate reporting. Some turned out to be likely true but could not be proven in criminal cases (beyond reasonable doubt). Others were suggestions of likely possibilities that reporters or columnists theorized. And some were just stories based upon sources that either turned out to be wrong, lying, or not fully corroborated.

The New York Times say Trump says he built hundreds of miles of wall already is not fake news. It's just a report that Trump is saying something. Same thing goes for a source saying something. The Times isn't saying its true. They are saying a source with inside information is saying its true.

Fake News is news we know is not true but gets reported as true. If the NYT had reported Trump had actually built hundreds of miles of wall then that would be fake news.

------- embarrassing.

Liberals have been talking about Fox News this way for years. So, logically and factually, we have two sides doing the same thing. So, your statement applies to both sides. Doesn't it suck when your own beliefs are used credibly to debunk your own logic? Not picking on you because this is true for every person who refuses to be objective about politics.

I've been saying this for 15 years. But it's only gotten stronger and more obvious.
The problem with Older Liberals is that they are stuck in the 80s when Liberalism began to move over to the Republicans and the Leftists started taking over the Democrats. Progressivism, the part about getting rid of the Constitution is alive and well and even stronger.

#27 | Posted by JordyPete at 2019-02-22 01:15 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

I agree.

All you have to do is make a checklist on where they stand on major issues, what they report and don't allow to be reported. The toilet paper of record been going down for quite sometime. Even liberals are waking up to the grand smokescreen.

Classic Slow Joe. He asks for a link, doesn't read said link, then complains because no one read it to him. Perhaps if he had taken even 30 seconds, he could have read this:

"In 2003, the Times admitted that Jayson Blair, one of its reporters, had committed repeated journalistic fraud over a span of several years."

From NoBias's link:

In 2018 the New York Times came under criticism, including from the tourist office of the city of York, for describing Yorkshire pudding as a "large, fluffy pancake" and recommending it be served with "syrup, preserves, confectioners' sugar or cinnamon sugar". A presenter for the BBC stated that the Yorkshire pudding's history was longer than that of the USA.[93]

"The problem with Older Liberals is that they are stuck in the 80s when Liberalism began to move over to the Republicans and the Leftists started taking over the Democrats."

You have it exactly backwards. In the 50's Republicans like Dwight D. Eisenhower were pretty liberal, he defended Social Security and accused rich Texas oil men of trying to destroy it. In the 80's those rich Texas (and other places too) oil men bought the Republican Party and have attempted to destroy SS, Medicare and every other thing Democrats have brought to benefit the American people. The Republicans have not supported any liberal idea in 40 years, they have become Fascists and are increasingly moving towards Nazism.

Jordypete is a Russian, I am convinced of it. He posts thoughts totally disconnected from reality and tries to rewrite important aspects of American history.

"The Republicans have not supported any liberal idea in 40 years, they have become Fascists and are increasingly moving towards Nazism."

What makes this funny, is that it describes the Democrats to a t. Which party is infringing on speech? Which party wants corporations under the control of the government but is controlled by the 1% at the same time? Literally, the only thing that is in common with Nazism and Trumpism is national pride and a robust economy.

They lie about everything - sometimes they even own up to it. Like how that wrote about such stupid things as Nikki Haley buying $50K curtains or how about the time that they said taxes would go up on a middle class family under Trump's tax plan - they even had a nice graphic on it...well, until they admitted that it was fake news and taxes would actually go down. You can learn how to google and find both of those pretty easy - even as dimwitted as you are.

How many lies does Fox correct? How many lies do you creeps correct? How many lies does Humpy correct?? How many lies do his minions correct? Is it a lie if you admit you are wrong and seek to correct it? Or was that a mistake.

Now calculate how many stories the NYT has printed correctly versus the mistakes.

Now compare that to the trustworthiness of the person calling the NYT the Enemy.

It easy to see who the Real Enemy is.

In all my life never could I have imagined a patriotic American President voicing such disdain for a free press. Sure, Tchumpo always loved his underworld mafiosi-like lifestyle. The press's only value to Tchumpo was to pour publicity that would expand his brand's phony baloney image. Now that Tchumpo's clown circus has full accountability to the American people and to the freedom living world, Super Clown bristles with indignation that the Press (including the venerable NYT) dares to show Tchumpo's inconsistencies, flaws and incompetence.

What else would you do if you were an unqualified chump holding a position of incredible public accountability? Scream "enemy of the people", and use bullying language to insult your doubters and any guardians of the public's right to know the truth about its highest leaders. Acting like a dumb, spoiled, ten-year old narcissist with no manners and no capacity for self-effacement, Super Clown Tchumpo can only resort to blaming others for making him look out of his league, incompetent, immoral, self-centered and horridly ill-informed.
