Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, February 19, 2019

The editor of a small-town Alabama newspaper published an editorial calling for "the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again" in order to "clean up D.C." and to stop "Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats [who] are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama." ... Asked to elaborate what he meant by "cleaning up D.C.," publisher Goodloe Sutton suggested lynching. "We'll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them," Sutton said.

You'd think he'd have the sense to back down a bit when confronted, but no. Hang 'em high!

This clown deserves all of the derision he will get.

He probably tells his community, "They want y'all back in chains."

He probably tells his followers that Democrats in congress would love to see all of them hanging on a tree.

Ironic since Alabama lives on Federal money.

You want lower taxes? Bring down spending until the budget is balanced. Cut the bloated military budget and close some bases. Stop giving the rich tax breaks. End corporate welfare. Properly fund the IRS to catch tax cheats.

What? You don't want to cut spending? You just don't want to pay for it? That's the Republican Motto.

One doubts we would have seen this article in the light of day in modern times prior Trump's America. All his supporters, and those who look the other way because he is a Republican, own this.

Meanwhile, we have people openly saying how much they want to cause physical violence towards Trump. But Dems are a-ok with that. People did it to Obama, Reps were fine with that. To use such a stupid story to prove any kind of point just makes the point maker look bad. Again, the hypocrisy from both sides has ruined this country. The KKK just instigates it and then Dems pay attention, which is what gives those types of journalists even more reason to keep posting stupid crap like that.

And, this is terrific evidence to prove what so many people have argued against, that the press does actually need some kind of controls over it.

"Cut the bloated military budget and close some bases."

The last time a President did that, a couple years later two of our tallest buildings got destroyed and thousands of people died. Which then caused the POTUS in office at the time to significantly raise the military budget higher much higher than it was before the original POTUS cut the budget. You know, I get partisan politics as just human nature, but ignoring direct, current historical evidence that proves a suggestion is worthless is just beyond any logical reasoning.

this clown published it in his newspaper and we're all amused/outraged, but the fact is, this attitude is so deeply embedded in our country, that it's a testament to how successful our hate crimes legislation has been and how far it still has to go. this is pretty much editorial du jour clear into the 70's down south. all trump supporters may not agree with this guy...but everyone who does, sure as hell supports trump

It's just coincidence that the Klan and other white supremacists are far more comfortable expressing this kind of sentiment after Trump ran and won?

Something in the water makes Alabamians commit felonies. 1 in 13 adults in Alabama are ineligible to vote because of felony convictions

A republican racist displays his racism, and your response is to blame democrats and the free press.
You can't fake this kind of stupid.

That's not the water.

That's because Alabama is one of the blackest states in the Union.

The last time a President did that, a couple years later two of our tallest buildings got destroyed and thousands of people died.

Gloss over the fact that a president ignored warnings from the previous administration that terrorism was going to be a high priority, Ashcroft directed the FBI to shift from terrorism to domestic investigations, W ignored a direct warning that Al Queda was planning an attack, etc.

It's an old slang term that black folks used to call white folks.

The joke is it's because it's the last thing they hear before a white man runs them over.

Which is like the old anti-racist joke told about the three black guys who were run over and killed by the Governor's limo on a back road in Alabama.

When they were hit, one of them went through the windshield and the other two were thrown 50 feet down the road.

When the Highway Patrol got there, the Gov asked what they were going to do about this.

The Patrolman said, "Well, Gov, we is goin' to charge this first feller here with Breaking and Entering, and these other two for leaving the scene of the crime."

It seems the hoods are back off in Alabama again.

#26 | Posted by ClownShack Would you mind proving that assumption? Last I looked Alabama has numerous black elected officals, from local to state level. Are you saying these elected officals can not look out for the welfare if their continuities? Is there a News paper in the state? Is there any media at all? Unpleasant fact: Money is political power. If you don't have some, you don't mater.

Since when have Dems said they were okay with people wanting to cause physical violence to Trump? Please, show your work.

The Press needs controls? I'd say the backlash seems like a good control. But do tell us, who gets to decide what the Press should print. Explain to us your trashing of the First Amendment.

And the Bases Closure act was in 1993. It had nothing to do with 2001. Worse for you, the Conservative Heritage Foundation said they need to close even MORE bases in 1995. So again, show how these base closures led to the 2001 attacks.

You are like Trump. You say ridiculous things with no evidence and when it comes to implementing any of your suggestions, you are at a complete loss for how to do it.
