Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, February 16, 2019

Ever since Donald Trump's upset victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, much of the media attention has been on how Democrats need to reconsider their strategy for winning voters in future elections, particularly Obama-to-Trump voters. But the results of the 2018 midterm elections suggest that Republicans have some soul-searching to do as well. They lost the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections and suffered battering losses in the House in 2018. Republican strategists must grapple with how to keep their party viable nationally, and our data suggests that Trumpism may continue to hurt them in the future.

Trump may have won the White House with a thin margin built on winning over just enough Obama voters in the right places. But this victory may ultimately have come at the expense of the Republican Party's long-term electoral prospects. To win some of the Romney coalition back, Republicans would need to moderate their stances on some key issues, like immigration and trade, and, of course, exactly the opposite is happening.

"To win some of the Romney coalition back"

How stupid is this writer? The only worst political advice would be to tell the Dems that they need to run a centrist, corporate owned, pro-war candidate like Clinton and they will win in a landslide.

Trump won despite the Romney coalition because those pro-war, corporate owned neocons moved over the the Dem party already. Trump continues to pick up working class people of all races and genders. In 2020, you will see the highest % of blacks voting for the GOP in 50 years. As Democrats know, if Trump can make even moderate inroads into black and Hispanic voters (both groups agree with his wall and trade deals), the Dems can't win in the electoral college.

You are pretty stupid indeed. But, why draw attention to that fact?

If 4 years of Trump means America resoundingly and finally rejects what the GOP have become, it won't have been in vain.

He put a face to the bigotry, pandering to America's oligarchs, and moral cowardice of the GOP.

Because of the Russians.

Trump's Homeland Security charade is setting things up so the Russians can help him win again.

Trump has done nothing to expand his 35% base and everything to turn independents and rational Republicans against him. He's never broken 50% except for a couple times in the laughable outlier Rasmussen poll.

There's no pivot to the center for Trump. He's incapable of acting like a normal person. Game over.

His, like most Russian trolls weakness is American Geography.
He argued that Boise, ID was a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah when they are 339 miles apart (see 5 hours by car).
