Payless once was an option for discount shoes and discount prices. Within in the last 5 or so years someone told them they were a Shoe Carnival or Rack Room Shoes, they raised their prices, not the quality, and it failed. That being said the local news reported this morning beginning tomorrow everything is 70% off. So I will be here when the doors open for beach flip flops, sandals, etc that I would have never bought from them at retail.

Maybe they could stay in business if Republicans start using their bathrooms for anonymous gay orgies? I've heard Republifags having a tough time funding places since the government shutdown has lowered the frequency of airport bathroom cleanings. Rosie Burrito and the other illiterate Mexicans won't mop up jizzfarts for free.

I haven't had a pair of plastic shoes since childhood and then only flip flops, which drew blood every spring.

What does this have to do with Trump? It has everything to do with management. Change or die. This happens every day.

This will eventually bring rents down, and with it America's competitiveness. But Banking resistance to that solution will be enormous. That pressure has prevented any realistic long term solutions which would bring rates in line with incomes.

Even the Bible, a document I take little stock in, speaks of Debt Jubilee years, which solves this chronic economic problem.

The Year of Jubilee
Count off seven sabbath years -- seven times seven years -- so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan. The fiftieth year shall be a jubileefor you; do not sow and do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines. For it is a jubilee and is to be holy for you; eat only what is taken directly from the fields.

This Year of Jubilee everyone is to return to their own property.

The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers. 24 Throughout the land that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
Anyone who sells a house in a walled city retains the right of redemption a full year after its sale. During that time the seller may redeem it. If it is not redeemed before a full year has passed, the house in the walled city shall belong permanently to the buyer and the buyer's descendants. It is not to be returned in the Jubilee. But houses in villages without walls around them are to be considered as belonging to the open country. They can be redeemed, and they are to be returned in the Jubilee.

This would provide a rapid recovery. It is only required about every fifty years, when the effect of compound interest becomes impossible to keep up with, because as Picketty demonstrated with FACTS. Compound interest always grows faster than the economy which supports that debt.

I've never shopped at Payless so I don't know anything about their business model. There is one in my area, however and I think the reason it is going out of business is because the mall where it is located is dying. First, Blockbuster left (years ago), then Dress Barn left, then Shoprite, then the liquor store, then Walgreens and then Kmart left at the end of December. Dress Barn was replaced by some furniture rental place and Walgreens was replaced by a furniture thrift store. The Shoprite was never replaced. Payless used to benefit from its location in a kind of one-stop shopping venue, but as other bigger name stores left, I figure so did many of its customers.

"i never ever ever ever ever EVER found a pair of shoes in payless that did not hurt my feet."

Amen, sister. I think I went in the store twice when it first opened and found nothing except a small purse. (I think I did get a purse there once.)

The original post is a great mission statement, but I never found anything worth buying in my few visits to their shops, but I wear athletic shoes, sperries, or boots.

Well, we have evidence here of why Capitalism is having such a rough go in this era. We have people here who don't even know how it works so their first reaction is to blame Trump, even though this has nothing to do with any politician...unless there is a politician on the C-suite/Board of Payless. Liberals have no idea how Capitalism works and that if a company makes bad decisions (like trying to rip off customers), then they will not survive. Yet, these same Liberals go on and on about how America is the devil and Capitalism is the root of all evil. So they are admonishing what they don't understand. And since so many Liberals (not all, only the medium to far Left) are too lazy to actually do research, they just read a headline and think they instantly know everything about the situation.

Republicans learn about a situation and form moral-less, insensitive opinions. Democrats are too smug to research because they think they already know everything but they do form decisions based off of morals. If we could only find people who combine the learning with the morals. America has proven that's incredibly difficult.

Humtake, just say "I hate liberals" and save us all a lot of time.

#17 | Posted by danni at 2019-02-18 12:18 PM | Reply

It's not that they are lazy.. it's because if the facts don't fit their tightly held socio-political economic theories... they'll just ignore the facts and go with name calling because it's just easier to do that than actually think.

I'll go further and state I have yet to meet an Ivy league graduate that can put two sentences together or come up with an original thought.

Far easier to scream "Trump is a racist" like all the other howler monkey's and assume they know what's best for blacks and everyone else.

Time to get off the democratic plantation.
