Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The Los Angeles Veterans Affairs (VA) facility that illegally rents its sprawling grounds to institutions that don't serve veterans just evicted several groups dedicated to veterans, including a nonprofit that for decades has comforted dying vets and another that helps those who are disabled. While the VA gave the volunteer organizations the boot without offering an explanation, it continues housing a parking lot for nearby upscale shops, a university baseball stadium, a dog park for the professional dog walkers of affluent residents, and athletic fields for a fancy prep school.

It marks the latest of several scandals involving the misuse of this VA property, where a top official pleaded guilty to multiple felonies last year for taking bribes from a parking lot operator that defrauded the agency out of millions. This month at least five established nonprofits dedicated to providing veterans with therapeutic activities, counseling and other valuable survival skills have been evicted while private businesses that don't benefit vets remain. The Jewish War Veterans is among the organizations that just got kicked out along with Twilight Brigade, the Disabled American Veterans, Vet-to-Vet and the Association for Parrot C.A.R.E., which provides therapeutic activities for vets at its parrot sanctuary. A local newspaper reported the latest travesty at the southern California VA this week, but Judicial Watch has for years investigated, sued and obtained government documents involving the VA's illegal use of this parcel.

The 338-acre property in West Los Angeles, which includes the National Veterans Park and Veterans Home, was deeded to the federal government in 1888 for the specific purpose of caring for disabled veterans. Thousands of disabled veterans once lived on the grounds, which also had churches, theaters, a library and post office. In the 1960s and 1970s the VA quietly closed the facilities, according to the American Legion, and ousted mentally disabled veterans. In recent years, the property has been used for many causes unrelated to veterans. Among them is a stadium for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) baseball team, an athletic complex for a nearby private high school, laundry facilities for a local hotel, storage and maintenance of production sets for 20th Century Fox Television, the Brentwood Theatre, soccer practice and match fields for a private girls' soccer club, a dog park, and a farmer's market.

i have a VA psych who is gaslighting me, seriously.
over a year ago a VA shrink granted my request for outside VA pysch services.
he did that when i had made appt with him that lasted 5 minutes. he was new. he said: i'm just the pill pusher.
i knew that. i had simply setup the appt because he was new and thought he might "just give me" the outside authorization, he did!
i was shocked. that was ovef a year ago; i saw him for 5 minutes, never saw him again (not before).
--it took so long to actually receive the paperwork that by the time i did, i never used it.

during that time i sent him a message asking about the delay, he sent me a copy of the request he had sent a month earlier.
i thanked him and also asked him about some medication (Klonopin). he wrote back: "All Vets ate being weened off narcotics. So, I can't give you that. Perhaps you will get it on the outside."
Now, i knew that that "all vets...all narcotics& thing was BS. i politely asked if would send the policy or a place i could read that order.
He wrote back: FDA.
Again, i sought citation.
While he wasn't forthcomng he made other comments, like: "Be proactive n your healthcare." and other supposed tidbits of wisdom for me.
So i took the opportunity, since he was the beand new to VA shrink, lucky to have one at all in tiny hidden VA clinic, ... to reply with my history, abput 2 pages worth. And telling him, essentially: Dude, you're telling the WRONG guy! You don't know me! ...kinda thing.
He felt threatened and wrote back: "you have been reported to the appropriate authorities there will be consequences."
I about freaked out!!! Are the cops coming!??? almost had a heart attack.Cancelked all my upcoming appts.
I gathered all the messages we had and reported him to overseeing VA Hospital Director. I did so anymously.
The director said this was very wrong. And once I finally identified myself I heard no more, and, a few weeks later I got a warning letter.

Ok. Anyway, that was then. over a year ago, and after that brief meeting that resulted in that authorization that i never used.

6 weeks ago i sent that same psych a message, requestiing another authorization and listed the name and info of a Dr i had recently already been seeing. ...he VA psych wrote back: Done.
I figured since i made that compliant he might do smething like that, ir not respond at all. less do what he SHOULD and say to come in for an appt first.
i waited. it came, the dr i have got it, etc, YAY. i received my copy the next day.

i decided to try to read it... they send tiny faded print. ALWAYS. (helps to NOT pay the provider when they don't follow instructions.)

it has an ICD-10 code at the top and done in the body of the letter it says in narrative what the code is: F14.94 cocaine dependency; cocaine induced Mood-Disorder.
next day, last friday, i called the office that sent me the authorization. I asked them to look up the one he gave me before and tell me the code:.F31.0 Biplar Disorder. which indeed my VA dx.

this MF is gaslighting me. don't you think you might need some UA's or something before CHANGE without seeing the patient, without any way to know if someone is an ACTIVE COCAINE ADDICT???!!!!!!!

MF!!! $500 shoes, a porsche, a MIND business down the street -- i'm just the pill pusher -- collecting probably $200,000 a year from VA.

i need a lawyer.

It's par for the Course Ichiro..

I went to the VA for an outpatient surgery last week. Took six months for me to get the referral, to another VA clinic no doubt in the same building. I got referred to the "surgery dept" or whatever. I got a surgery appointment scheduled and waited for my appointment. After two reschedules because of doctor's either quitting or just not at work, I finally got an appointment that stuck. When I got to the appointment, while taking my vitals, the nurse says "So, What are you hear for today"? Really? I'm about to get surgery and you dont know why I'm here, and you work in a section that does surgery only?

Then, the doctors are in the next room. I can hear them talking. Quote:

PA. 1: Mr. Boaz is here
Dr. 2: What's he here for?
PA. 1: Tells her what I'm there for
Dr. 2: The doctor he came to see isnt here this week, do you know how to do that procedure?
PA. 1: I've only done it once, do you know?
Dr. 2: I've done it twice, I'll show you how.
PA. 1: I'll need help with the numbing..
Dr. 2: yea, I'll show you that too, it really hurts.

About this time, I yell out, "You know I can hear you, right"? They both come in apologizing. I tell them they are NOT cutting on me. Government healthcare my ---...

At this point, I think I'm just going to go find me a private doctor..

so, yeah, the good ppl at VA Healthcare...in the clinics...Admin is whole other peach...or two or three... the few good ppl are overwhelmed by the bad ones. Pinch, is a good one. ;)
absent ALL that...i'd might be dead w/o VA.
but it's weird because i think they can kill me, and might be, too.
i do NOT want them cutting on me...or much else. my pcp is nice, and her nurse,
but i have to try to trust somebody, yes?
and it's too late to wonder how i got here.
