Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, still facing calls to resign as governor a week after the revelation that his page in a medical school yearbook features a racist photograph, is now tightly focused on coming up with plans to survive. His office has begun to explore how it might recalibrate Northam's legislative agenda to focus closely on race and equality, sources close to the governor tell BuzzFeed News.

"The civil rights community, led by Rev. Al Sharpton and the Virginia black legislative caucus, are keeping the pressure on Northam to resign. Sharpton, in some nimbly-crafted political strategy, appeared Thursday at the historically-black Virginia Union University. Flanked by other religious leaders, Sharpton suggested that even if he was not in the picture, his admission that he had put some shoe polish on his face to impersonate Jackson was still more than enough cause to resign. On Thursday, Sharpton told BuzzFeed News that Northam's attempt to explain away the picture was pointless. "It's tantamount to saying, ‘I didn't rob Wells Fargo bank, but I did rob Bank of America.' Well, you're still a bank robber, he said."

It's a rare day that I actually agree with Al Sharpton.

No one who supported Kavanaugh after the multiple allegations against him has any credibility in pushing Northam out for less serious allegations.

Kavanaugh's a lifetime appointment. Northam is limited to a single term.

The difference according to historical precedence is hardly lame:

Only one Supreme Court Justice has ever been impeached and it's also noteworthy that it happened over two hundred years ago and he was acquitted by the Senate, so a Supreme Court Justice has never been removed by impeachment.

OTOH, quite a few governors have been impeached with eight of them actually being removed by impeachment with more that resigned!

There have been only 114 Supreme Court Justices, in contrast there have been almost two thousand State Governors since 1785. Statistically, more Supreme Court Justices have been impeached than State Governors.

Nice try though.

Once again the clown brigade is pitiful.

I see you are having trouble adjusting to orange being the new blackface.

In the mean time point your fingers where ever you choose... nothing compares to the pig currently in office... who you gleefully cheer on and defend... who is leaving office in disgrace... for his treasonous greed. No one is going to remember Northam or what he did in a decade...probably less... but they will remember the orange pig... and my guess is you will be wimpy deplorables pretending that you did not vote for him...or blathering on about some stupid conspiracy theory...

LOL!!!

Besides the fact that these two groups are not random samples and are each selected by a different method ("apples and oranges"), drawing conclusions from a small sample (only one occurrence!) is fraught with inherent deception.

I'd suggest brushing up on the misuse of statistics before playing that card again!

I actually think Northam can keep his job if he can really show a change in perspective.

That said, Northam needs to find a person of color to guide him through this.

The con racists like RoC who are dancing with joy to find more racists like them, is pretty disgusting.

Sorry, the "equality" train left many years ago, about the time of Anthem actually (pretty good coincidence, if you get the reference, you get bonus points). You can fight against racism still, but the definition of racism is changing every few years so that's a tough fight. But equality went away when a demographic of people who were not treated differently before is now treated differently and are not socially, and in some cases legally, allowed to do the same things as other demographics. That's not equality, that's vengeance. You can agree with the vengeance or not, doesn't matter...it's still not equality.

It looks like Gov. Blackface is not doing his assigned reading of Roots and The Case for Reparations:

Embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's media apology tour is off to a rough start.

Northam went on "CBS This Morning" in an interview that aired Monday in an effort to save his political career after reporters uncovered a racist photo on his medical school yearbook page.

At the top of the interview, Northam referred to "the first indentured servants from Africa" who arrived in Virginia, and is now facing backlash from critics accusing him of minimizing historic horrors with a euphemism for slavery.

"Well, it has been a difficult week," Northam said after the first question from CBS' Gayle King. "If you look at Virginia's history, we're now at the 400-year anniversary – just 90 miles from here, in 1619, the first indentured servants from Africa landed on our shores."

"Also known as slavery," King said.

How antebellum Virginia of him.

AG BlackfaceToo better be taking notes on how not to kick off an apology tour.
