Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he stands by a few words ad-libbed into his State of the Union address and wants more legal immigration to the U.S. -- an apparent reversal of his administration's policies. Trump said Tuesday that immigration enriches the country and "I want people to come into our country, in the largest numbers ever, but they have to come in legally," he said. The words "in the largest numbers ever" weren't in his prepared remarks.

Basically Trump demonstrates daily that he doesn't even know what he believes. He governs by ideas that bounce into his head then bounce out of his consciousness.

"conservative" republicans campaigned on saving low skill, low paying shovel jobs

while simultaneously giving away the white-collar jobs to people who will work for less

Good going, asshats

You are succeeding in taking the American workforce, (that prepared) to your miserable level

No safe space here for the know-it-all ------

The guess is rehashing the institutionalized racism of the south as "surprising" is just more of an opportunity to the "can't we discuss the racial progress" crew

Deplorable indeed

He knows what he believes. He also knows that it doesn't sell to the dummies that vote for him.

The art of the deal lays the blueprint for pushing the lies until it becomes the truth.

This is where the "keep immigrants out to get Americans to work and wages up" rhetoric is run over by the bus of corporate profits and hiring cheap foreign labor to replace Americans.

We need more traffic jams, pollution and million dollar dilapidated shacks. Capitalism can do that for us all.

I can't recall Trump ever questioned during an interview about his preference in hiring foreign guest workers rather than Americans. His is a "do as I say, not as I do" presidency on immigration. His properties hired illegals for years, even arranging for forged documents, and won't hire Americans at Mar A Lago and other properties who've applied for and want the jobs.

I never understood the rationale of just giving away the best jobs and protecting the worst jobs.

Superlatives aside, since that is just Trump's personality, there was a lot more to his immigration cuts that was actually reported by the media. So this article is basically just bias hate. Trump cut programs because he said they weren't effective. They had budgets he didn't like. They had mismanagement he didn't like. Not to defend him or say his opinions are valid, but ignoring that he had reasons other than "I don't want Mexicans in our country" is irresponsible and hateful journalism.
