Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

On Thursday, Walmart began offering tours of its tiny home - with a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room - in New York City. People can test the mattresses and bedding, with the option to purchase items on-site and have them shipped to their home. The tiny home will soon make its way across the country, stopping in cities like Philadelphia, Nashville, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Allswell is also selling one tiny-home model for $100,000.

Great idea. Too bad that Americans think they need mansions, and homeowners and special interests successfully block tiny home villages.

I assume banks will loan money for these?

It would be great for the time when you bring your parents home to love with you. Just drop one of these in the back and they can still feel independent.

Can they really though?

You can really do a lot better than that for less than $100,000.

I build 6 star houses in interior ak, both large and small. I want to see the plans. For 100 grand, you should be able to get way more than that. For 100 grand you can definitely pay to build a 6 star trailer bigger than that. And it sure doesn't look even 4 star.

#9 | Posted by Ottodog at 2019-02-07 09:18 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

That's a cool looking little house.

But not for $100K.

#10 | Posted by jpw at 2019-02-07 09:55 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Too bad minimum square footage laws exist as well as the fact that trailers don't appreciate.

#11 | Posted by IndianaJones at 2019-02-07 10:17 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

100K ? Then land? Sewer? Utility hook ups?

It won't be very economical once you move in. You can still get a 2 bedroom home in the country near me for under 100k and some of them have a small spread of land.

#12 | Posted by lfthndthrds at 2019-02-08 06:39 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

$100K?

Ridiculous.

The point of tiny homes was that they were affordable. This is just more WalMart ----.

#13 that's an empty container.

I read an article saying these things were well over 100k after you pay to have them set up etc..

This price is kind of along the right lines.

If you are a Walmart employee they will teach you how to apply for Section 8 housing. It's how the help their employees live on minimum wage.

I bought a brand new and bigger camp trailer for 25 grand. I don't get anyone paying 100k just because it looks like a house.

AVERAGE Hourly Rates. You get a few managers, Optometrists, Truck Drivers, Pharmacists in there they bring that average up pretty quick.

Here's real world pay for jobs they post: Indeed Walmart Jobs Almost nothing over $11/Hour.

Way overpriced, especially since you can get a real house - not a mansion like I live in, of course - with land, sewer, water, etc. in a LOT of places in this country - and No junkies or feces on your sidewalk, like some liberal paradises.

#21 | Posted by Spork at 2019-02-08 04:20 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

I just thought about it. I am LMAO - lots of houses around here for $100kish - you know with garages and bedrooms and such. Good neighborhoods even.

Just glancing at it with it's permanent 3-axle trailer, fixtures I don't want, appliances I don't need and windows I don't want birds to bang into, it unsells itself.

The people who buy this house trailer for $100,000 would look down their nose at people who live in house trailers.

Figure that **** out.

You can count the number of times the DR Left has mentioned the Green Dream plan on one hand since its rollout. Clearly they are embarrassed.

Not by "inconsequential" future of the GOP.

Or as Tom Perez gushes, the 29-year-old Ocasio-Cortez "represents the future of our party".

Bernie Sanders @SenSanders

The U.S. is the most powerful economy on earth and we must lead the world in the fight against climate change. We can do that by passing the Green New Deal to save the planet and create millions of new jobs.

Jeff Stein @JStein_WaPo

Incredibly strange dynamic rn. A zillion outlets have run w/ GND = mystery FAQ sheet, which includes things like $ for those "unwilling to work"

But thats not in the plan the Senators signed off on. Now AOC is retweeting her adviser telling Fox the sheet is itself not theirs

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez @AOC

Replying to @JStein_WaPo
There are multiple doctored GND resolutions and FAQs floating around. There was also a draft version that got uploaded + taken down. There's also draft versions floating out there.

Point is, the real one is our submitted resolution, H.Res. 109:

Stein likes the GND and ran on it in 2012, which raises the question: why aren't you be mocking her?:

Dr. Jill Stein 🌻 @DrJillStein

Where'd Green New Deal come from? It was the heart of our 2012 campaign, but give credit to @GreenPartyUS cofounder @HowieHawkins who ran for NY Gov on #GreenNewDeal in 2010. Let's create millions of jobs, fight climate crisis & make wars for oil obsolete!
