I am with Danni on this one, though not angry ..

The idea of two genders in the military seems at odds with equality, even the term "gender dysphoria", should make no sense in the military.

There should be one gender ... soldier

If you think you are a male, then tough, female tough; we are here to get ---- done, and if you can't handle it, get the F&&* out, as AOC says "zero F's given" ...

All this talk of equality should start in the military,

I remember when the Bush administration decided to crack down on gay soldiers and lost half of their staff who could translate Arabic.

"On September 10th, 2001, the United States government intercepted two phone calls placed from Afghanistan between Al Qaeda operatives. "Tomorrow is zero hour," said one of the voices. "The match is about to begin," came another ominous line. The National Security Agency intercepts millions of messages every hour, but these calls came from sources deemed to be high priority. They were, of course, spoken in Arabic, so they made their way to a translator's queue, waiting to be interpreted. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2001 our government did not have enough Arabic linguists to translate the messages quickly. The phone calls were not translated until two days later, on September 12, 2001. It was two days too late.

The terrorist attacks of September 11th, as every American knows, changed everything. Almost immediately, a national consensus emerged, if only briefly, that nothing should stand in the way of true reform of the nation's broken intelligence apparatus. Nothing should stop a thorough and efficient re-orientation of our national security perspective, which must immediately be geared toward fending off future terrorist attacks. Nothing, that is, except letting gays in uniform take part in the fight. The story of the ongoing purges of gay soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines with language skills critical to waging the war on terrorism pits political expediency and moral dogma against national security, social scientific research and common sense."

AS far as being angry, if you arn't angry then you aren't paying attention.

Oh thank goodness this non-issue has turned into a big, complicated senseless issue.

The military didn't ask for this. Totally unnecessary. It was only Trump. A man who couldn't serve because of fake bone spurs. A man who believes being sexually promiscuous is like fighting in Vietnam. A man who "always wanted" the Purple Heart.

Similar arguments have been made against women and gays. And trans folk have already been fighting for the US in likely every major war. Trans folk haven't been a problem serving in any other country or any other time in history.

So why is it suddenly a problem only now that Trump is President?

Being angry at the policy is one thing. Claiming SCOTUS has jurisdiction over this is another.

"I'm not sure at all what any of this means"

You should put that on a t-shirt.

The SC should be ashamed of themselves today, at least the ones that sided with the bigoted orange pig in currently occupying the White House.

Yea, putting a transsexual into a group of highly stressed armed men where cohesion and conformity is at a premium is a little more than stupid. Your values and judgement mean absolutely nothing to these guys. Basically they are very tired of being unwilling test subjects for social experiments. The have a job. It is to engage and destroy an armed opponent. That takes a lot of work just to prepare for. Do y'all really think you want to turn your warriors into soft, malleable punks who will jump through any hoop some snow flakes put in front of them? So mentally ill homosexuals who desire to mutilate themselves want to get into this club? Why? What does that prove? You can't join the military if you are asthmatic. Asthmatics require a lot less medical support than a transsexual.

Ok, let's just assume for a minute that you are correct that today's generation of combat soldiers do feel the way you claim. This policy extends beyond combat roles. Why should that disqualify anyone, regardless of gender, from serving in a support role? What does it matter if the person who fixed the engine on their plane, or the logistics person who made sure their ammo got shipped to them is trangender?

As if anyone has any control over the genetics they are born with. Shame on you SCOTUS, shame on you.

Why are there ANY highly stressed US armed men fighting in other countries?????

Because war is a racket and those armed men are fools who are throwing their lives away for people they will never meet in places where they cannot pronounce the inhabitants names.

But, we should feel sorry for those citizens who got so little out of their public education that the army was the only employer that would hire them.
