Trump as Strongly Disliked as Nixon Was When He Resigned

Harry Enten: more Americans think Trump will ultimately be an unsuccessful president than believe he'll be a successful one makes sense. The 18-point margin on that lines up nearly perfectly with his -22 point net approval rating (approval rating minus disapproval rating) in the same poll.
What is notable is how many people have already made up their minds on Trump being unsuccessful. The 47% who said that are basically saying not just that they don't like the President now, but also that there's a very good chance they'll never like him.

He's lost independents, he's down 17% with white men, 10% with evangelicals, etc. And something that should really get Trump's goat is that Nancy Pelosi is 10% more popular than Trump in GEORGIA!!

In a couple of recent polls, 57 & 58% of voters said they won't vote for him again. Historic, Nixon-levels.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Trump did not blow up the Paris Peace Talks and extend the Vietnam War for four more years and cost 25,000 additional American soldiers' lives. I don't like Trump but he is not even close to the level of evil that was Nixon.....yet.....an unnecessary war with Iran could put him there though and John Bolton has already asked the Pentagon to draw up the strategy to do just that.

Nixon was evil.

Trump is evil and doesn't give a ----.

Trump has earned his dislike level. The fact that he still has a modest level of support speaks volumes of how far down America has fallen in morality.

Valid point. And it is happening right now while we sit and discuss it. The is an ongoing crime against humanity and there should be huge demonstrations against it.

This just proves that 29% of Americans are idiots. Nixon did indeed blow up Paris Peace Talks and extend a stupid war. But Nixon didn't shut down the government for a month and demand that Federal workers work without pay. And Orange Agent will start his own war, just you wait.

There are two significant differences between Nixon's time and today:

First, there were members of the GOP who recognized the danger to the country, and had the courage to tell Nixon that he would be impeached if he did not resign. When Barry Goldwater showed up and told the president that the president's party will no longer support him, Nixon had no choice. Today, I see no member of the GOP with that level of courage, to place country before party.

Second, Nixon went in a dignified manner. Even if defeated at the polls in 2020, Trump will have to be dragged from the building. If he were impeached and convicted, Trump will try to remain in the White House. Getting him out will certainly be TV worth watching...
