This would be a great way to get what he wants done. DACA and TPS are sensible programs anyway, so good to see those protections extended to people.

If he wanted a wall, he had two years for Congress to rubber-stamp it.
So, what is it you think Trump wants to get done?

Hey kids -- watch as our leader gets his wall! In exchange for full citizenship for DACA dreamers Der Drumpher will get his $5.7B for a wall stretching from San Diego to the Gulf of Mexico! And a mighty wall too -- three feet high and made of styrofoam bricks...

Perhaps, but until the wall is done, I am against any and all "promises" by Democrats and future funding.

Democrats lied in the past when they said they would fund it, Reagan gave amnesty in exchange for future border security that never came. I trust Democrat future funding of conservative initiatives as far as I can throw them.

I have stated before, give us a safe secure border, low to none illegal entries; then we can work on Socialized/National HealthCare Medicine, MinWage issues; FreeCollege; blah blah ... I am all for it if you can make the numbers work.

Until we have low to no illegal entries; these are off the table, they make no sense; NO country that offers these has illegal immigration to the extent the US does.

The budget has more in tax cuts for the rich than Trump wants for the wall.

This is the "bargaining" state of the Kübler-Ross model, where you can't deal with the issue head-on, and instead you have to set up a bunch of unrelated and impossible hoops to jump through first.

I know they are saying that he is going to offer DACA for the wall but I think it is more likely he is going to declare a national security emergency, that's what Putin would do. He could have made the DACA deal weeks ago so if he does it now then why did he punish all those federal employees for so long?

According to a latest poll by NPR, 50% of Latinos support Trump which is 19% up from December.

This offer from Trump is an opportunity for Dreamers to become legal once and for all.

If the Democrats don't accept this offer, they run the risk of losing even more Latino support.

No it doesn't, it offers them a chance to be safe from deportation for 3 years. Nothing more. But, it offers Democrats a chance to defeat Trump in 2020 and then offer Dreamers a pathway to gain citizenship. I support the choice of going with the deal, the wall isn't going to prove to be immoral, it's going to prove to be ineffective.
Are you unaware that the Gulf of Mexico is always there? Are you aware that many thousands of Cubans have arrived on our shores? Or that close to 50? of illegal entries are really foreigners, from all over the world, who come here on tourist visas and just don't leave? I personally know some of them from Europe, S. America, the Caribbean, Central America.
If people want to get here badly enough, they are going to get here.

Sorry DACA, you are not the target of the Dems. You will be educated and work legally - that is not what the Dems and their 0.1% masters want. They want you to have a fully illegal status so you have no worker rights and can be used to drive down wages. Also, you simply are not important enough to them, despite your established US roots, to trade for the 500M illegals that they can have flood in from South and Central America. Those are the ones their 0.1% really want. Mexican labor is too expensive, they need Guatemala, Honduras, etc. people to come here and undercut the expensive illegal Mexicans. You already see it in the Bay Area. Mexicans and the Central Americans hate each other because they are competing for the same jobs.

The Obama administration, scrambling for billions in emergency funding to address the surge on the U.S.-Mexico border, is facing yet another accusation that it was asleep as a crisis evolved -- this time, the influx of illegal immigrant minors.

Federal statistics show that the number of unaccompanied children making the dangerous trek from Central America -- specifically Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala -- began to pick up in 2012. It has steadily accelerated since. More than 50,000 total illegal immigrant children have crossed since last October, mostly from those countries. By one count, the estimated number of expected apprehensions this year would mark a 1,381 percent increase since 2011.

The administration is now elevating the response to a "crisis" level, tapping a central coordinator, sending Vice President Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry to meet with Latin American leaders and, now, requesting $3.7 billion in additional funding.

Obama's administration thought this was a problem too, just shows this issue will not be addressed unless forced.

We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States -- but those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law. They are showing disregard for those who are following the law. We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently and lawfully to become immigrants.

Wow what a total change.

It is funny that Obama circa 2008 running on the exact same platform now would not get the Dem nomination because he was too conservative....and this was before the total Wall Street sell-out. I don't think the Obama of today could get the Dem nomination if he was allowed to run for a third term. This is how wacko the Left has become. Bill Clinton 1992/1996 would firmly be a Republican on everything from economic and gay rights to drug enforcement/law enforcement. Gore of 2000 would fit this same exact mold with the sole exception of his climate change money grab. Of course, this is before he dumped Tipper (pro-censorship) grew a weird beard, and started sexually assaulting massage girls.

The Dems need to be honest with voters - they are for open borders. The illegals outside the country are more valuable than the US citizens and illegals that currently reside here. Sad.

In every crisis, there is opportunity. As a result, we have the Dems orchestrating this shutdown to fight against a problem they acknowledged in the past and even previously voted to try to fix. Because they are playing politics, DACA, non-DACA illegals, and US citizens are being held hostage.

Republican Congressman: Trump's Border Crisis Is a ‘Myth'

A conversation with Texas Rep. Will Hurd, who knows the border better than most of his colleagues

Hurd's district includes 820 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, more than any other member of the House of Representatives. But if you're expecting Hurd, who was narrowly re-elected to a third term last year, to support President Trump's "big, beautiful wall" and stand with the decision to partially shut down the federal government over the fight, you've got it all wrong. Trump's border crisis is a "myth," Hurd tells Rolling Stone, and a wall made of cement or steel slats is a "third-century solution to a 21st-century problem."

"What I always say is building a wall from sea to shining sea is the most expensive and least effective way to do border security," Hurd says.

Hurd is a never Trump sell-out. From 2014 to 2018 his campaign spending went up by a factor of nearly 5x. Most of this is from PACs and large individual supporters - people that want mass illegal immigration. By saying there is not a crisis, you Dems are calling Obama a liar.

#36 | Posted by nobiasposter101 at 2019-01-20 12:41 AM | Reply

More from Hurd:

This is an issue that has transcended multiple administrations. I think $67 billion of drugs coming into our country is a crisis. Now, I also think when you think of a crisis, that means people are afraid to leave their homes, right? El Paso is one of the safest cities in the United States of America. The same can be said about Del Rio, Presidio and Eagle Pass, places I represent.

It's a problem that should be solved. Yes, last year 400,000 people tried to come into our country illegally, and that's a decrease in 80 percent from 2000. But 400,000 is still a big number.

Probably the most idiotic person posting here. Yes, Obama's 2008 platform would be too conservative for today, things have change greatly since 2008. Obamacare has already passed and been found to be unrepealable by the Republicans so today he would be expanding it and adding a public option. He would win in a landslide if he were legally allowed to run again. Trump only won because of the EC, Obama would win in enough states that the EC couldn't overturn the will of the people. Hillary Clinton could also have done so had the Republicans not suppressed millions of votes and you and everyone else knows that is true. Republicans do voter suppression because it works.
