Saturday, January 19, 2019

The U.S. Defense Department has issued a dire report on how climate change could affect the nation's armed forces and security, warning that rising seas could inundate coastal bases and drought-fueled wildfires could endanger those that are inland.

Uh oh, the military is saying it now.

Watch righties suddenly jump on board. They have a facade of patriotism to maintain.

This won't matter to the righties, until Fox News comes out, loud and clear, that climate change is real they will continue in denial. Fox News will do that when, and only when, there is no more money to be made by kissing the butts of the fossil fuel industry magnates.

@#1 ... Uh oh, the military is saying it now. ...

The military has been saying it for a few years. Mostly, though, couched in the need to patrol the Arctic Ocean now that the ice is no longer blocking shipping traffic.

This is the first time they've said anything this dire, though.

This won't matter to the righties,

Not really, I just look at it as another plea for more money ...

The defense of this is odd when most everyone on this thread claims we spend too much on the military.

Around the globe governments are creating the Climate Change Industrial Complex.

We spend more on climate change research than it takes to build a wall to protect citizens.

Federal funding for climate change research, technology, international assistance, and adaptation has increased from $2.4 billion in 1993 to $11.6 billion in 2014.

In the end government is about getting funded, not producing a product; no one hires a fireman if there are no fires.

Good luck ...

Oh no we spend more on a real crisis than a fake one? God forbid!

The only thing that can happen here is total agreement so one has to wonder about the purpose of this kind of thread.

Perhaps becausse the military can actually protect the citizens while a walll not so much. When women 8 months pregnant climb over your wall you've lost your argument. Oops, that already happened.

And climate change is making sure we have plenty of fires, huge fires. So I guess we need government to continue hiring firemen.

Firepersons Danni.

From Andrea I expect that level of insensitivity but I hold you to a higher standard.

- warning that rising seas could inundate coastal bases

So are they going to just whine or relocate the bases?

#13 | Posted by nullifidian at 2019-01-20 11:55 AM | Reply

This is just an opportunity to spend more money on the military moving threatened bases and building new ones to replace them

Didn't they just detonate ANOTHER nuclear bomb at high altitude?!

Anyway, every comment from the military is a lie made to distract from contrary evidence. They know climate change is real because they are in charge of that project, but still don't do cloud seeding or storm disbursal - that would be science fiction.
