During the longest government shutdown in US history, President Donald Trump has been losing support among those who may be his strongest supporters -- white Americans who don't have college degrees.

If you want to see just how much his staunch support is dwindling, take a trip over to InfoWars and take a look at the comment sections of the articles.

CNN News updated just yesterday:

Ford unveils its most powerful Mustang yet

Ford unveiled the most powerful factory-produced Mustang the company has ever made at the Detroit Auto Show Monday. The new Shelby GT500 has a supercharged V8 engine that will produce more than 700 horsepower.

More testing and validation needs to be done before an exact horsepower figure can be announced, the company said. What we do know is that it will have more power than the $450,000 Ford GT supercar, which has 647 horsepower, and it will be capable of going from zero to 60 miles an hour in a little over three seconds.

But, according to some ridiculous broad brush comment, that's "100% fake news."

Never? If always-wrong Paul Ehrlich makes another wild gloom-and-doom prediction I'm always going to attack his record, i.e., slaughter the source.

Like the NYT, LA Times, WSJ, etc., so long as it eviscerates your narrative, right Dorkus?

After all, you are the Queen of STS.

Substantively attacking someone's record is fair game, but resorting to the "the article is garbage because it was written by/posted by/printed by ____" without anything else only underscores your inability to address the substance of the article.

I do agree with JPW that some sources like infowars, daily caller, alternet etc. are basically worthless as sources but I think that most people here are well enough informed to attack the substance rather than the source.

But, of course, the thread is about Trump Is Losing His Non-College White Base over Shutdown

Not Deflections about sources, which in this case are two major polls.

So...

Dorkus of Naples makes my point for me by yet again linking to his own posts where he slaughters "disreputable" sources like the Wall Street Journal and Canada's National Post yet provides no substantive response to the article itself.

Well done, I guess.

Take it up with Hans, I was responding to his #8, you were the one who got his manties all in a wad once STS was brought up.

I wonder why that is...?

- makes my point for me by yet again linking to his own posts

Well, I could have linked to the links in my own posts which destroyed your rwing spin sources, but that would not have given anyone the context of the thread.

But hey, you whining about that only proves you have no point at all.

- he slaughters "disreputable" sources like the Wall Street Journal and Canada's National Post

He slaughtered the authors of those articles, one a felon and the other a "rwing mole at ABC".

You must 'think' that other people here are as stupid as you to think they buy your deflections, counselor.

AND of course, sources have nothing to do with the thread topic, they are just another deflection.

Looking at the survey raw data, the Republicans have a larger problem... the diminishing percentage of people who identify as Republican.

It sort of confirms the graph I posted a link to a few days ago, the one that showed how Pres Trump was "encouraging" people to change their affiliation from Republican to Independent.

#32 | Posted by LampLighter at 2019-01-16 09:21 PM | Reply

How hard would it be for Trump to say to Pelosi, "OK, look. If you include money for more "border security," we can end this shutdown. We'll deal with the Wall after -- I'm not done with the Wall! I'm gonna build the Wall! But let's beef up border security now and end this shutdown."

Dismissing something out of hand because of the source is never OK. Some sources are so unreliable/false that it is justified to not even address their claims unless third party corroborating evidence is given (it is not worth my time to ONCE AGAIN debunk them). Sometimes (well... VERY occasionally for some of the r-wing propaganda sources) they actually make good points that is backed up by the evidence.

But, saying something is false BECAUSE of who it comes from is a logical fallacy no no.

#32 | POSTED BY LAMPLIGHTER

This is pretty common. Republicans love to complain about polls they don't like claiming that they under-poll Republicans and over-poll Democrats, but the party a voter identifies with is pretty fluid (especially in the middle). Whenever a political party becomes unpopular, then less people identify as part of that party. I can't recall reading about it happening with Democrats, but I am sure it does. It probably just doesn't get reported because Democrats don't whine and scream like little snowflakes over polls being "biased" when they show something they don't like.

Let me guess, hardline Republicans call the polls biased and fake and hardline Dems call the polls 100% accurate and the best polls ever done in history.

OK, just read the comments...amazing how easy it is to be right. Tune in when a Dem is in office, it will be the exact opposite!
