House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) is accusing President Trump of profiting off his job in the White House. Cummings made the accusation in an interview with "60 Minutes" aired on Sunday.

60 Minutes: Some Democrats believe Cummings should go for the jugular and push for impeachment. He says it's premature, and he also wants to pursue other issues especially the high cost of prescription drugs. His staff has already sent out 51 letters to government officials, the White House, and the Trump Organization asking for documents related to investigations that the committee may launch. The issues range from the private use of government owned aircraft by cabinet members to the flow of foreign money into various Trump enterprises like his hotel in Washington.

Steve Kroft: You think he's making money off this job?

Rep. Elijah Cummings: Please.

Steve Kroft: A lotta money?

Rep. Elijah Cummings: A lotta money.

Steve Kroft: And-- and you say the Constitution and the laws say it's not okay?

Rep. Elijah Cummings: It's not okay. And, but this is the other piece. I still believe that people-- the average citizen, the guys on my block, they oughta know if the president is making a deal, whether he's making it-- making it in his self-interest or that of the country.

CRASSUS

With some admitted doubts about your figures, did Obama earn his money legally?

If so, that only makes him smart. Which is the exact opposite of the criminal enterprise you support.

Legally? LOL...now now don't be so politically jaded.

76%, or $15.6 million, was from his books, Audacity of Hope, Of Thee I Sing: A Letter To My Daughters and Dreams From My Father.

Another 18%, or $3.7 million, was from his government salaries (US Senator and President).

Apparently, some people don't think that's legal.

LOL.

Thank you HANS.

CRASSUS (some people don't think that legal) just made a fool out of himself. He should have known better than to try that one.

Pickins' must be gettin' thin.

CRASSUS has been attempting to justify Trump by asserting that, after all, everyone is a criminal.

"You and I are part of the same hypocrisy, Senator" (Michael Corleone)

We're getting near the part of the movie where machine gun fire is sprayed into Trump's bedroom, where Ivanka plays.

CRASSUS is a true Trump believer. That means he is also a nihilist. Yes, that's an oxymoron. It's also one of those irrational combinations that make fascists dangerous.

Geesh, ZED. And Carassas thinks I'm the jaded one. (See his #3 - LOL)

Between collusion/conspiracy, obstruction and grift I give by-far the highest odds to grift as the thing that could bring down Trump's presidency.

In the context of #1, how does "after" make corruption?

Crassus,

The issue isn't whether or not Obama or Trump have earned money as a result of the presidency. The issue is how did each one earn their money?

It's not corruption after.

My grammar was poor. Sorry about that misunderstanding.

#14 no it's not. that's ridiculous.

Trump's daddy violated tax laws to give Trump hundreds of millions.

But still, it's corruption to enrich yourself while in office.

Imagine if Obama had bought a resort and insisted on going to the resort every weekend to play golf and billed the US government for the space that his security detail needed. Twitter servers would have melted.

Jeff can see the grifting, sad that Crassus can't.

Trump has faced scrutiny over the possibility that he is profiting off his presidency.

Speaking of dumb as dirt posters....

from the article:

"The White House called --------- claims "completely baseless" in a statement sent to CBS News, adding that it could not "comment further about ongoing litigation."

ROFL! Yeah, it's only clickbait regardless of the ongoing litigation into Trump's grift.

"The Trump Administration Grifting Matrix

If the people in the Trump administration share one thing in common (other than the obvious), it is their inspiring passion for the art of the grift.

And given their boss' well-documented fondness for rapid turnover and palace intrigue, many of these misfits, outcasts, and unapologetic white supremacists have taken to treating their jobs in Washington like malfunctioning ATMs that might stop hemorrhaging twenties at any minute."

And, strangely (or not), the only place in D.C. with paid park rangers was the clock in Trump's D.C. hotel.
