....... But GOP cares about kneeling during the anthem

"Under proposed guidelines, it would be easier for veterans to receive care in privately run hospitals and have the government pay for it."

Sounds a lot like Single Payer to me....

So the vets will get poorer care for greater cost, a condition the GOP will point to in 5-10 years as a reason to kill the program all together.

But hey, at least the execs will get to point to increased profits as justification for their fat cat bonuses.

And just as expensive ...

Can you imagine a crony-capitalist industry wanting to leech off the government?

Wonder if prices will go up or down?

A daily occurrence, often part of the bidness plan. No imagination required.

Probably up with the most recent change. If only we had a system that utilized the private sector healthcare infrastructure but put price caps on services.... If only.

This is nothing like single payer.

That will cost taxpayers dearly by doubling the costs. Another Trump triumph.

Vets will have new co-pays in this plan.

All the real veteran service organizations, from the American Legion to the DAV and the VFW to the Vietnam Veterans of America, don't want the VA to be privatized.

And these same veterans groups are against unlimited choice ...

Veterans groups warn against unlimited choice for health care

I bet we would have a line-up of Americans who would train to become VA-only physicians at a modest wage (for a physician).

The VA is the largest trainer of healthcare professionals in the country.

70% of all physicians train in VA hospitals, and over 120,000 healthcare specialties of all stripes are trained in the VA annually ...

I am not going to disagree many of them did but a LOT did not. What the ratio is I could not tell you but it is us who will be paying the higher costs. Our local VA hospital went from a place which you didn't want to go a few decades ago to a top notch facility in the past couple decades. My mom's uncle - a WWII vet - worked there for his civilian entire career. When he needed the hospital it was there for him and they took good care of him.

#15 Thanks Pinch. Damn, I didn't realize we would lose such an important training ground for physicians. This just gets worse.

the back end to promptly pay for services rendered is not in place. so you get treated second rate... as long as we maintain our ridiculous medical care for profit system.
