A majority of Republicans in a new survey say the partial government shutdown is "embarrassing for the country." The new NPR/Ipsos poll reports that three-quarters of all respondents believe the ongoing shutdown is "embarrassing."

"Nearly 70 percent of respondents in the survey said the shutdown is going to hurt the country and the economy. The same portion of respondents say Congress should pass a bill to reopen the government now, while only 30 percent believe the government should stay closed until there is funding for a border wall."

Funny how our local Trump Trolls are so proud of the shutdown... Babbles O'Fidian and his pet goat mAndy Mattress are to the right of most Republicans. Imagine that.

Pres Trump tweeted today, "Democrats could solve the Shutdown in 15 minutes!"

What he forgot to add is that he could solve the shutdown in a minute or so.

What he also forgot to add is that there would not even be a shutdown if Pres Trump had not manufactured a crisis and, in a temper tantrum fit, shut down the government in the first place.

He is acting like the little kid who is holding his breath until he gets his way.

Trump and Guzzlers: Unable to acknowledge the emotion called "embarrassment" because that would make them betas.

Vast Majority of Americans Frustrated, Embarrassed by the Shutdown, Support Back Pay for Federal Workers
www.ipsos.com

...Washington, DC, January 11, 2019 – The ongoing partial government shutdown, which is en route to being the longest shutdown in history, is looming large in the minds of Americans. Ipsos' latest poll with NPR shows that three out of four Americans (74%) believe that the government shutdown is embarrassing for the country.

Even though Democrats (87%) feel more strongly about this than Republicans (58%), a majority in both parties agree.

Most Americans also believe that Congress should pass a bill to re-open the government now while budget talks continue (71%), once again with majority support coming from both Democrats (86%) and Republicans (56%).

Trump's speech did little to restore faith in the American people, as only one in ten thought it brought the country closer to ending the shutdown (10%)....

Of course it's embarrassing. Then we have the temper trantums and childish tweets to go along with it.

This is nothing more than dick wagging by Trump.

$1.7 Billion was appropriated already and only 6% of the funds have been expended.

If it were such a national emergency you would think it would have been more urgently spent.

It is a purely hype move to get the base hopped up on a win after the red tsunami failed miserably.

Trump is pathetic and transparent.

"Pres Trump tweeted today, "Democrats could solve the Shutdown in 15 minutes!"

So it's taken you three weeks and counting to do something Democrats could do in 15 minutes.

Democrats want something and Trump wants something, they put in what the democrats want but the democrats ignore what trump wants so trump denies, that's the way it works....go figure!

Trump initially signaled that he would back a government funding bill without the wall money, sending Pence to tell Republicans in the Senate that he was on board... But Trump later reversed himself in response to a backlash on conservative media, leaving Senate Republicans stunned and Pence looking powerless.

It's easy to spot Trumpublicans.

They're ignorant of reality.

"Democrats want something and Trump wants something"

Democrats: Let's spend on technologies that work.
Trump: Let's spend on technologies that don't.

Democrats were willing to give Trump $20B for the wall a year again in exchange for an agreement on DACA that Trump refused. Dems also had an agreement in place with Congressional GOP and Trump a few weeks ago that Trump balled on.

Trump, Mr Art of the Deal, fully owns the greatest, most bigly, government failure in the history of the country.

Majority of Country: GOP 'Embarrassing for the Country'

Yep, shutdowns suck. Maybe should do something about them. Of course, that takes time and effort so nothing will ever get done. Instead, people on one side just live on their soapbox if they agree with it, the other side fights back, and guess what...another shutdown occurs later about something else. Been happening for a while by Dems and Reps. But keep spreading hate as if that solves anything.
